The final starting day of the 2009 PokerStars.net APPT Syndey Grand Final is in the books. Today's flight was the largest of the three starting days, boasting 209 runners. After seven levels of play, a few more than 100 remained.

The field was jam packed with notable players, known both on the Australian front and worldwide. Stephen Topakas, Jeff Lisandro and Mark Vos all played today. Out of that trio, only Vos will be seen in action on Day 2 tomorrow with Topakas and Lisandro bowing out early on.

Team PokerStars was also very well represented in the field today. Former world champions Peter Eastgate and Joe Hachem were on hand along with Team Asia Pro members Celina Lin and Bryan Huang. All four of those names were eliminated and won't be in the end-of-the-day chip counts. Tony Hachem and Emad Tahtouh were also in the mix, but busted before day's end as well. Tony Hachem fell at the hands of Ben Delaney just minutes before the buzzer sounded.

PokerStars online qualifier David Campbell sits towards the pack from Day 1c with around 130,000 chips. Campbell never seemed to faulter and was able to constantly add chips to his stack throughout the day. The official chip leader is Anton Blagov with 166,800. Not only is Blagov the leader of Day 1c, but he also claims the overall chip lead moving into Day 2.

With all the day ones complete, everyone fortunate enough to move on to Day 2 will resume play tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. local time. First place is set at a cool AUD $594,000 and each player left has his or her eye on the prize.

All official chip counts and seating assignments will be posted later on tonight once received. We'll see you right back here midday tomorrow for continued coverage from Sydney!
