Van Marcus Eliminated in 32nd Place ($10,405)

Van "Sirens" Marcus - 32nd Place
Van "Sirens" Marcus - 32nd Place
Van Marcus opened the action with a raise to 17,000 from under the gun and Andrew Scott was next to speak. After the two had just finished chatting about a previous hand where Scott commented "I'm not going broke with just one pair", Scott was straight back into the action as he announced himself all in. The table folded around to Marcus who cut down his chips before making the call.

Marcus: {a-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Scott: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

Marcus was in great shape but that all changed on the {Q-Spades}{3-Spades}{8-Spades} flop when Scott spiked a pair of queens to take the lead. It was then all over on the {6-Spades} turn as Scott made a flush to leave Marcus drawing dead. The meaningless {9-Hearts} was the river and the pot was pushed to Scott.

Some controversy then emerged following the hand as the players counted down their stacks as Marcus believed the dealer had pushed his opening bet to Scott. Marcus wanted to go to the cameras, but a count of Scott's stack revealed that even if the 17,000 had already been included in the pot, Scott still had Marcus covered.

The 2008 APPT Manila champion departs in 32nd place for $10,405.
