Huge Hand Vaults Kim To Chip Lead

Andrew Kim now on top
Andrew Kim now on top

Andrew Kim is now the chip leader of the 2012 APPT Seoul Main Event. In order to get that honor, he won a massive clash with the former chip leader Moritz Ortmann. Here's how it went down.

From early position, Ortmann opened with a raise to 50,000 and play folded to Kim on the button. Kim put in a reraise and made it 150,000 to go. The two blinds folded and action fell back on Ortmann. He jammed and Kim snap-called with the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}. Ortmann held the {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. Kim was all in for 708,000 and the pot was worth nearly 1.5 million in chips.

The flop came down {J-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Kim's aces stayed in the lead. The turn brought the {3-Spades} and that left Ortmann needing a five on the river in order to get all he could out of this hand half of the pot with a chop.

The river completed the board with the case {A-Hearts}. Kim made a set of aces to win the hand and land himself an enormous double. Ortmann saw well over half of his chips shipped to the other side of the table as Kim moved himself into the chip lead.
