The first day of 2019 Asia Pacific Poker Tour Jeju had its own adventure, as the Super High Roller that was originally scheduled for the day got canceled and replaced with a ?6,000,000 High Roller event. The new event started almost four hours later than its predecessor and drew 32 total entries, concluding after nine 40-minutes levels.

China's Changyang Liu emerged as the chip leader after winning a huge pot two hands before the end of the day; Liu's pocket queens giving him a middle set on the flop, while his opponent was holding ace-queen for top two, and all the chips ended up in the middle. Liu's set held, catapulting him to 269,100in chips, which was enough to grab the chip lead from former frontrunner Jiang Chen.

However, Chen, who had an amazing festival during 2019 APPT Korea a couple of months ago, managed to final table two events, the Main Event (4th) and the Super High Roller (2nd) for a combined prize of ?186,582,000 (~$161,000). This time around the Chinese player ended Day 1 with 164,900, good enough for second place in today's chip counts.

Twenty-three unique players comprised the field and there were nine re-entries, bringing the total Day 1 entries up to 32. The champion of re-entries was Huidong Gu, the only player from Macau in the field, who was also the only player with two re-entries and he still didn't manage to advance to Day 2.

Registration will remain open until the start of Day 2, at 1 p.m. local time (GMT+9) on Sunday, June 23, and this is when the total prize pool and payouts will be announced.

A total number of 52 entries were in the event with 44 unique players and 8 re-entries, creating a prize pool of ?22,698,000.
