Day 1a of the 2019 PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Jeju ?2,500,000 (~$2,160) Main Event is in the books, and there is a familiar face in the leading position of the day's chip counts. Tae Hoon Han is a player with a lot of success in Korean territory, as 17 of his 23 lifetime cashes, came here in South Korea.

Especially Jeju, must have a special place in Han's heart, as here he achieved his biggest career cash so far, when he came third in Red Dragon Main Event in December 2018, for $92,391. This time he had a great performance from the very first moment he played this tournament, as he was only going up in the chip counts. He bagged 296,500 chips by winning a big pot near the end of the day, where he saw luck turning its back to him, but things turned in his favor in just one street. He was all in with ace-king versus his opponent's ace-queen, with a queen appearing on the flop, but a king on the turn gave him back the lead in the hand, and the pot by the river.

The first of the three starting flights saw 127 entries in total, with 115 unique players and just 30 of them managed to advance to Day 2.

Some other stacks above 200K chips include 2019 APPT Jeju High Roller third place finisher Changyang Liu (265,000), China's Xiaojie Lu (271,000), and Japan's Jun Obara (208,000). Other notables that are still in the field include Xingbiao Zhu, Kun Jiang, Quan Zhou, and Wei Zheng.

There are still two flights remaining for those who didn't manage to advance to Day 2, and they are both going to take place tomorrow, Tuesday 25 June. Day 1b will start at 12:00 p.m (GMT+9) and a turbo Day 1c will start at 7:00 p.m. (GMT+9).

Players will be returning on the second day in Wednesday 26 June, with the blind level starting at level 14 and all levels will be 60-minutes in length.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be bringing you full coverage of this event throughout its duration, so stay tuned for all the action as it unfolds.
