On the heads-up turn of 7?4?3?10?, Yuanning Wu moved all-in for the last 15,300. He was quickly called by Takashi Nomura with the covering stack and the cards were revealed.

Yuanning Wu: A?Q?
Takashi Nomura: A?A?

Wu needed a spade and got it with the K? river to score the double.

One table over, Seokchan Hwang claimed the stack of Hyun Jin Jung to become an early big stack as well.

Nakada Scores an Early Double

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante
Valeriy Pak
Valeriy Pak

The cards and board were already exposed when the chips of Yuki Nakada were counted. His A?Q? had flopped the nuts on the K?8?7?9?10? board and Valeriy Pak was left with a mere 300 chips, as his 10?8? were only good enough for a rivered two pair. A few moments later, Pak headed out of the Coral Room and he has one chance to re-enter today.

Hasumi Takes a Chunk Off Krasniqi

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante

Three ways to the 6?5?3? flop, Akihiko Hasumi in the small blind and the big blind both checked. Granit Krasniqi bet 600 on the button and Hasumi check-called. The 3? fell on the turn and Hasumi check-raised from 1,000 to 2,400, earning a swift call from Krasniqi.

Once the J? fell on the river, Hasumi mulled it over for a short while and then bet 3,000. Krasniqi called and exposed his A?A? already but couldn't beat the Q?J? for a flush by Hasumi.

Welcome to the 2023 APPT Manila PHP65,000 Main Event

Grand Ballroom
Grand Ballroom

The return of the PokerStars sponsored Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) recommences with the second stop in 2023 in the capital of the Philippines. From July 27 until August 6, APPT Manila 14 takes place at one of the most iconic venues of the live poker series.

The flagship tournament at the PokerStars Grand Ballroom at Okada Manila comes with a buy-in of PHP65,000 and , which equals approximately $1,185. It is the third most expensive event on the schedule, only surpassed by the PHP 500,000 Super High Roller and the PHP 250,000 High Roller. The former already crowned a winner as local legend Mike Takayama came out on top to win his first PokerStars shard trophy along with PHP2,587,950.

A maximum of two entries are allowed in each of the three starting days and any contender who has already qualified for Day 2 cannot join one of the remaining flights thereafter. Each Day 1 will complete 13 levels each and all levels on Day 1a and 1b will last 40 minutes each whereas the turbo heat 1c has a level duration of 20 minutes each. Approximately 15% of the field are paid and the money bubble is expected to burst early on Day 2.

The recommencing blinds for Day 2 will be rolled back to the start of the level in which the earliest Day 1 finished while the level duration increases to 60 minutes each. Furthermore, a 30-second shot clock will be implemented once the cards go back in the air for Day 2 on August 5, 2023, and remains in place until a winner has been crowned. The penultimate tournament day is slated to play down to the official final table.

If the tournament reaches the final three players or if any deal has been made, the level duration will be cut in half as of the following level.
