The return of the PokerStars sponsored Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) recommences with the second stop in 2023 in the capital of the Philippines. From July 27 until August 6, APPT Manila 14 takes place at one of the most iconic venues of the live poker series.
The flagship tournament at the PokerStars Grand Ballroom at Okada Manila comes with a buy-in of PHP65,000 and , which equals approximately $1,185. It is the third most expensive event on the schedule, only surpassed by the PHP 500,000 Super High Roller and the PHP 250,000 High Roller. The former already crowned a winner as local legend Mike Takayama came out on top to win his first PokerStars shard trophy along with PHP2,587,950.
A maximum of two entries are allowed in each of the three starting days and any contender who has already qualified for Day 2 cannot join one of the remaining flights thereafter. Each Day 1 will complete 13 levels each and all levels on Day 1a and 1b will last 40 minutes each whereas the turbo heat 1c has a level duration of 20 minutes each. Approximately 15% of the field are paid and the money bubble is expected to burst early on Day 2.
The recommencing blinds for Day 2 will be rolled back to the start of the level in which the earliest Day 1 finished while the level duration increases to 60 minutes each. Furthermore, a 30-second shot clock will be implemented once the cards go back in the air for Day 2 on August 5, 2023, and remains in place until a winner has been crowned. The penultimate tournament day is slated to play down to the official final table.
If the tournament reaches the final three players or if any deal has been made, the level duration will be cut in half as of the following level.
