Barer Counted Out
Approaching the money bubble it is understandable that players take their time making decisions and hands take longer to play out with so much at stake.
Amichai Barer in the cut-off and Maxim Prokhorov took a fair amount of time to reach the river of a board reading and that’s when the action slowed down even more. Barer had bet 16,500 and Prokhorov had raised him 35,000.
Barer sat in his seat, headphones on, staring at the side of Prokhorov’s head for a while. He then cut out various amounts of chips before putting them back and staring at the immobile Prokhorov some more. Sorel Mizzi got up from his seat to stretch his legs. The rest of the table watched on in silence.
Nothing happened for a bit more until the clock was eventually called. Barer was given a one minute countdown but did not move. With the count at two seconds he quickly checked his cards again, the count reached zero and his hand was declared dead.
