The Nine Lives of Keiichiro Sugimoto

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

It began with Keiichiro Sugimoto raising to 43,000 from early position. It folded over to Yencheng Huang, who moved all in. Sugimoto called and the hands were tabled. Sugimoto held {a-}{9-Spades} and Huang {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}. The board fell {8-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, giving Huang the pot. After the chips were counted, Sugimoto was left with just 58,000.

The very next hand, Winfred Yu opened the pot to 40,000, Sugimoto on his direct left moved all in. Action folded back to Yu, who made the call. Sugimoto table {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} and was in great shape against Wu's {a-Spades}{4-Spades}. The board ran out {a-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}{10-Clubs} giving Sugimoto a much needed double up.

The next hand saw Raiden Kan open the action to 42,000. It folded over to Sugimoto who, again went all in. Kan asked for a count and was told he needed an additional 55,000 to make the call. Kan made the call and revealed {k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Sugimoto found himself behind going to the flop with {j-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. There was nothing much for Sugimoto on the {q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop, but the {j-Spades} paired his hand and it would hold through the {10-Diamonds} river for another double up.

Sugimoto survives again and now has a stack. That doesn't slow him down though as he moved all in on the next hand after Kan again raised, this time to 40,000. Kan once again made the call and showed {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Sugimoto was going to the flop behind one more time with his {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}. This time Sugimoto found what he needed on the flop when it fell {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Kan was the one who needed help now but he wouldn't find it on the {2-Diamonds} turn or the {4-Diamonds} river.

From 58,000 to 343,000 in a few hands, isn't that what poker dreams are made of?
