APT Macau Main Event

Day 3 Completed

Congratulations to Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Champion of the 2008 APT Macau Main Event ($500,000)

Yevgeniy Timoshenko - Champion of 2008 APT Macau
Yevgeniy Timoshenko - Champion of 2008 APT Macau
Yevgeniy Timoshenko is the champion and lone survivor from the field of 257 players that started the 2008 APT Macau Main Event. It was a dominating performance for Timoshenko at the final table. After Quang Nguyen opened the action by eliminating Michael Pedley, Timoshenko was responsible for eliminating every other player at the final table. He seemed to make the right moves at the right times, and even when he didn't make the right move at the right time, he had a good dose of luck on his side.

"I'm very fortunate to have won this," said a visibly overjoyed Timoshenko. "I ran extremely well. The final table was a pretty tough lineup. I'm really ecstatic that I finally won a main event."

For his performance, Timoshenko has been presented with the equivalent of US$500,000 in Hong Kong Dollars and a Lucite trophy replica of the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino. He also was given a bottle of champagne that he had absolutely no idea how to open (Timoshenko is twenty years old; the legal drinking age in his home country, the U.S.A., is twenty-one).

Congratulations once again to Yevgeniy Timoshenko on a hard-fought, well-earned victory.
