Event 17 - $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Turbo

Day 1 Completed

Matt Dietrich Wins Event #17: $1,100 No Limit Hold'em (AU$42,900)

Matt Dietrich Wins!
Matt Dietrich Wins!
In the end it was Matt Dietrich who shot to the lead after eliminating two players with his pocket kings when four-handed, to claim a big chip lead entering heads-up play. However, Raemin Alexander fought back to get his nose in front, only for Dietrich to reclaim the lead and ultimately hang on for victory.

He overcame a field of 159 players to capture the title, the Aussie Millions Gold Ring and AU$42,900 in cash. Congratulations Matt and to all of our cash winners.

Well, that's 17 events down and only one more to go in the 2009 Aussie Millions. Raemin Alexander Eliminated in 2nd Place (AU$ 31,650); Matt Dietrich Wins!

Raemin Alexander - 2nd place
Raemin Alexander - 2nd place
"The Moose" moved all in once too often as this time Matt Dietrich made the call.

Alexander: {K-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Dietrich: {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}

Alexander wasn't in horrible shape with live cards but the board didn't hit him when it fell {Q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{A-Hearts}. A great tournament for Alexander ends in 2nd place and he'll collect AU$31,650 for his time today.

All In Territory for Alexander

"I'm now in all-in territory!" laughed Raemin Alexander as he looked down at his stack.

He is hovering between 10-12 big blinds and his strategy has definitely changed as he has moved all in preflop on at least six separate occasions, however Dietrich has yet to find a calling hand.

Dietrich Flops Boat

We caught the action on a board of {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades} with Matt Dietrich firing 28,000 into the middle. Raemin Alexander made the call.

The river was the {4-Hearts} and Dietrich let loose for 43,000 which Alexander called. Dietrich had flopped very good with his {K-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for a full house as Alexander tapped the table and mucked.

Dietrich is now back in front with 520,000 to Alexander's 275,000.

Play Slows

The play has been very slow for the last twenty minutes. The two players appear to be happily chatting away and are bringing a very relaxed approach to this heads-up contest.

Both players seem happy to flash cards and keep things friendly...for now.

The Moose Out in Front

Matt Dietrich raised to 36,000 from the button and Raemin Alexander made the call from the big blind.

The flop fell {Q-Clubs}{4-Spades}{K-Clubs} and Alexander checked to Dietrich who bet 32,000. Alexander made the call. The turn was the {3-Hearts} and again Alexander checked to Dietrich who fired 46,000. Alexander then check-raised all in and Dietrich folded.

Alexander now has claimed the chip lead with 465,000 to Dietrich's 330,000.

Alexander Accumulating

Raemin Alexander
The first significant pots of this heads-up contest have gone the way of "The Moose" Raemin Alexander. He got paid off by Matt Dietrich after spiking trip threes with his {Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and followed that up with another 35,000 river value bet holding {J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} on a {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Spades} board.

Alexander is now back up to around 340,000 and within striking distance of the chip lead.
