Karamalikis Crippled

Kalan Shuttlewood opened the action to 600 and found two callers including Jonathan Karamalikis in the big blind.

On a flop of {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} Shuttlewood bet 1,600 following Karamalikis's check. The other player folded which was proceeded by Karamalikis raising to 4,700. Shuttlewood moved all in and Karamalikis made the call.

Shuttlewood: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Karamalikis: {8-Spades}{9-Spades}

With Shuttlewood needing to catch a four or a nine to complete his straight (a seven would give a straight to Karamalikis), the {K-Diamonds} on the turn would change little, but when the {4-Spades} landed on the river the virtual pot of over 24,000 was pushed to Shuttlewood as Karamalikis was left crippled on 1,175.

Pickering Running Low

Jamie Pickering has taken yet another blow and is now at half his original starting stack.

Most recently he led the betting on every street with a board reading {4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{K-Spades} and tabled {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. However his bottom pair wasn't good enough to take the pot down as his opponent tabled {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} for top two pair and the pot.

Pickering is now sitting on 5,000 in chips after being moved to a table featuring the likes of Emad Tahtouh, Hai Bo Chu, Brendon Rubie and James Potter.

Kings Versus Kings . . . Twice

We have seen pocket kings run into pocket kings not once but twice so far in this tournament.

Both times, all the money was in preflop with the pot being chopped.

It seems as though players are more willing to move chips round following the ease of the touchscreen; however only one player has been knocked out of the tournament so far.

Saab Silenced

The normally very vocal David Saab has been very silent since the beginning of this tournament, slowly seeing his stack dwindle.

However he recently took down a small pot sending him close to 9,000 as he announced, "Yes, I've finally won my first pot!"

Saab has Marty Smyth and Michael Vartan his table.

Bergeron Flushes Harvey

Craig Bergeron opened to 150 and was met with a reraise to 400 by Martin Harvey. Bergeron made the call and both players checked the flop of {10-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

When the {A-Clubs} landed on the turn Bergeron led out for 475 and Harvey made the call. With the {J-Diamonds} peeling on the river, both players checked with Bergeron's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} good for the nut flush and the pot.
