Ridin' the Mastorakos Rollercoaster

Mastorakos: needing some energy after that workout
Mastorakos: needing some energy after that workout
Jim Mastorakos went through the highs and lows of tournament poker in back-to-back hands just before the dinner break.

Mastorakos took out David Chilcott after Chilcott moved all in with {a-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} but couldn't outdraw the {k-Spades}{k-Hearts} of Mastorakos on a board that read {j-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{4-Hearts}.

David Saab then doubled through Mastorakos in the very next hand; Saab moved all in with pocket jacks and was flipping for his tournament life against Mastorakos' {a-?}{k-?}.

The board ran out eight-high and after all the action, Mastorakos is on 660,000.

Wax On, Wax Off

Chuck Danielsson has just been eliminated from the tournament by Mick Matthews.

The money found the middle before the flop; Danielsson's with {A-Spades}{9-Spades} and Matthews' with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}.

The ensuing board ran out {5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Matthews' ace-queen held up to take down the pot, sending him up to 330,000 in chips.

Sproule Smashed

The money was all in on a board that read {k-Spades}{j-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}; Kevin Sproule had made a last-minute attempt to double up, moving all in with {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} but ran into the {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} of Harrison Kaczka.

The river was a meaningless {9-Spades}, eliminating Sproule and sending Kaczka's stack up to 610,000.

Carle Crushed

A very active Mitchell Carle has recently been eliminated from the tournament by Vincent Wan in what amounted to a +650,000 pot.

Carle opened the pot with a raise to 28,000 from early position and Wan flat-called from the big blind.

The flop came down {K-?}{K-?}{6-?} and Wan checked to Carle who fired a 35,000 continuation bet. Wan then kicked it up to 100,000 and Carle moved all in for 300,000 on the nose. Wan made the call and tabled {K-?}{Q-?} for trips, having Carle's pocket nines in deep trouble.

The turn and river filled out {5-?}, {Q-?} giving Wan the nut full house to send former big stack Carle to the rail.

Jarred Graham Eliminated

Short-stacked, Jarred Graham moved all-in for his last 82,000 and was called by Brad Rawiller:

Graham: {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Rawiller: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

Graham stole the lead on the turn as the board filled out {Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, but the {9-Clubs} spiked on the river giving Rawiller a set to win the hand, sending Graham to the rail.

Edmonds Climbs to 340k

Brendan Edmonds is now sitting with just over 340,000 after spiking a miracle river card to stay alive in a hand against Aaron Wilt.

Edmonds moved all in before the flop for 166,000 holding {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and was looked up by Wilt who made the call holding {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}.

Wilt held the lead through the turn as the board filled out {4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Hearts}, but the {Q-Clubs} fell on the river giving Edmonds two pair, queens and deuces, to win the pot.

Wilt was left with just under 200,000 in chips after the hand.

Aristi-doune

Peter Aristidou started this hand with about 300,000. When Brent Thomas was done with him, he was left with none. The chips went flying all in preflop and these were the cards that were shown:

Aristidou: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Thomas: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}

The flop dropped the {8-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and {q-Diamonds}. The turn, {7-Diamonds}, was no help to Aristidou and putting the final nail in the coffin was the {q-Hearts} on the river.

Thomas now has 970,000 in chips and Aristidou hit the rail.

Graham Cracker Crumbs

Facing a preflop raise of 27,000, Tim Marsters moved all in for a total of 226,000. Action then folded around to Jarred Graham in the big blind and he too moved all in, isolating Marsters. The initial raiser folded and Marsters and Graham tabled their cards:

Marsters: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Graham: {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The ensuing board ran out {7-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Marsters' queens held, knocking Graham down to 85,000 in chips.

Not Out of Styles Yet

Bradley Styles moved all in for his last 66,000 from under the gun and the action folded around to Harrison Kaczka who called from the small blind.

Kaczka: {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Styles: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The board was spread {9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{q-Hearts}; despite a very scary turn, the river queen was enough to see Styles double up to 145,000.

Kingston Skies to 420,000

"We can go to the tropics... sip pi?a coladas, shorty I can take you there."

Sorry... wrong Kingston. The subject of this post is Anthony Kingston, who just doubled through former big stack Semon Deeb and now has 420,000 in chips.

Kingston opened the pot with a raise to 45,000 and Deeb came back over the top with a 90,000 three-bet. Kingston then moved all-in for about 100,000 more and Deeb made the call:

Deeb: {A-Spades}{5-Spades}
Kingston: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}

A king-high board with no imminent spade threat followed and Deeb was drawing dead by the turn.

After the hand, Deeb was left with just 28,000 in chips and was eliminated from the tournament a few hands later by Jim Mastorakos.
