Veni, Vidi, Mizzi
Mizzi opened the pot with a raise to 10,500 from early position and action folded around the table to Pierre Aoukar on the button who called, as did Smith from the small blind.
The flop came down and Smith checked to Mizzi who fired a modest continuation bet (we didn't catch the exact amount). Aoukar let his hand go, but Smith stuck around to see the turn -- .
Both players checked the ace, hightailing the action to the river -- .
Smith then led out with a 20,000 bet and Mizzi came over the top with a raise to 96,000, sending Smith into the tank.
"Do you want a call?" Smith asked. "Show if I fold? Can you talk?"
Mizzi didn't say a word, as the many spectators who'd gathered around the table watched in silence as if on the 18th green at Augusta on Sunday, watching Tiger Woods attempt a birdie putt for a Green Jacket.
Smith tanked so long that Tournament Director Jonno Pittock applied a clock. Time eventually ran out on Smith, who's hand was ruled dead, and Mizzi raked in the pot.
"Show the bluff!" yelled one spectator.
Mizzi then quickly buried his cards in the muck pile, with a wide-eyed smile on his face.
After the hand, we counted Mizzi at 400,000 in chips and Smith at 350,000.
