Wrong Table, Buddy!

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

One of the unique features of the Aussie Millions is that the same poker room here in Crown Casino is also used for their championship events, so at the same time that the world's best players are battling it out on the felt in the Main Event, you can come in and play a cash game with your mates.

However, one elderly gentleman seemed to have blurred those lines. As the action continued on the $5,300 Pot Limit Omaha final table, he walked up near the supervisor to grab some cushions, then put them down on the chair in between Mike Shklover and David Ewing before passing his cash game ticket to the dealer.

Nobody said a word and it was only seconds afterwards that the man realised where he was (or rather, where he shouldn't have been). "Whoops, I thought this was table 12!" the man exclaimed, before apologizing and quickly scurrying away red-faced as all and sundry burst out in laughter!

Shklover Takes Over

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Although William Thorson still has the chip lead with 284,000, Mike Shklover is now within a sniff of taking it after doubling through Thorson to move up to 275,000.

We caught the action as Thorson and Shklover were heads-up to a flop that read {9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}; Shklover opened for 45,000 and Thorson called before Shklover open-shoved on the turn of the {Q-Diamonds}. Thorson snap-called.

Shklover: {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} (straight draw)
Thorson: {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts} (two pair)

Incredibly, Shklover spiked the {10-Diamonds} on the river to give him the straight and double up!

Aussie Millions: Around the Horn

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

With so little going on here at this $5,300 Pot Limit Omaha final table, let's have a quick look around at what's going on today at Crown Casino.

  • Event 9 - $10,000 Aussie Millions Main Event: 37 players remain. Randy Dorfman is first past the million-chip mark, but Patrik Antonius is breathing down his neck.
  • Event 12 - $10,000 Australian Heads-Up Championship: Due to the scheduling of today's events, Flight 2 has been postponed until tomorrow.
  • Event 15 - $10,000 8-Game Mixed: 28 players bought into today's event. Robert Williamson III and David Oppenheim amongst the first to hit the rail.
  • Event 21 - $250,000 Super High Roller: 20 of the world's best bought in, which was double the number expected. James Obst the first player eliminated; Annette Obrestad, Tom Dwan, John Juanda also out. Sam Trickett in prime position to score the High Roller-Super High Roller double, now leading the final table with almost 2,000,000 in chips.

A Gimmie for Putt

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Graeme "Kiwi G" Putt is now up to 142,000 in chips after doubling through William Thorson in a recent hand at this $5,300 Pot Limit Omaha final table.

The action folded to Putt who completed the small blind before Thorson raised to 8,000 from the big blind. Putt reraised to 16,000 and Thorson called before Putt open-shoved on the flop of {4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}.

Thorson called, showing down {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{3-Hearts} but Putt was ahead with {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}. The board ran out {J-Diamonds}, {2-Diamonds} and with Putt's double-up, Thorson is down to 355,000.

Joe Hachem Eliminated in 5th Place (AUD $15,000)

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Despite having doubled through William Thorson just before the break, Hachem wasn't so lucky against Mike Shklover and has departed in fifth place, good for AUD $15,000.

The money couldn't have gotten in faster after the flop of {3-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{Q-Spades}; Hachem moved all-in with {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs} for the overpair, ahead of Shklover's {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades}, however the {9-Diamonds} spiked on the turn to improve Shklover to two pair!

A meaningless {4-Diamonds} fell on the river and Shklover chipped up to more than 210,000. "Just like that, huh?" Hachem muttered before tapping the table and taking his leave.
