Ospina Finds River to Stay Alive

Level 14
Daniel Ospina
Daniel Ospina

Omaha Hi/Lo

Richard Ashby opened the button to 10,000 and Daniel Ospina defended his big blind to see a {5-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop fall.

Ospina led for 5,000 and Ashby made the call as the {10-Clubs} landed on the turn and Ospina fired out 10,000.

With only 4,100 behind, Ospina was forced to commit his final chips when Ashby two-bet.

Ashby: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Ospina: {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}

With Ospina holding a flush and low draw, the {A-Hearts} on the river would complete his low to keep him alive in the tournament.

Limit Holdem

Daniel Ospina opened to 10,000 from under the gun and Richard Ashby three-bet to 15,000 from the small blind.

Ospina made the call to see a {Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop with Ashby continuing for 5,000 before Ospina made it 10,000. Ashby smooth-called as the {2-Clubs} fell on the turn and he checked over to Ospina who fired out 10,000.

Ashby check-raised to 20,000 before both players checked the {7-Hearts} on the river.

Ashby tabled his {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} to collect the pot to move to 450,000 as Ospina mucked and slipped to 29,000 in chips.

Portaro Takes Two Back

Level 14

Limit Holdem

Bruno Portaro has managed to claw back some chips from both Daniel Ospina and Casey Kastle as play continues four-handed at the $1,100 8-Game Mixed final table.

Ospina limped in from under the gun and Portaro checked from the big blind before check-calling Ospina after the flop of {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Portaro then quickly fired out on the turn and Ospina didn't hesitate to throw his hand into the muck.

Two hands later, Portaro opened from the button and Kastle called from the big blind before both players checked the flop of {10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}. Kastle led out on the turn of the {3-Hearts}, only to muck after Portaro raised.

Ashby Closes In On 400k

Level 14

Limit Holdem

Daniel Ospina made it 10,000 from the button and Richard Ashby defended his big blind to see a {5-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop fall.

Ashby checked and Ospina fired out 5,000 only to have Ashby play the check-raise cards and make it 10,000 to go.

Ospina called, and when the {5-Hearts} landed on the turn, he called a 10,000-chip bet from Ashby as the {6-Diamonds} rolled off on the river.

Ashby checked and Ospina tossed in two yellow 5,000-denomination chips only to have Ashby check-raise once again; this time making it 20,000 to go.

Ospina called, and after being shown the {7-Hearts}{5-Spades} of Ashby, he flashed his {10-Spades} and mucked.

As Ospina slips to 55,000, Ashby continues to dominate and has moved up to 395,000 in chips.

Ashby Annihilates Portaro

Bruno Portaro: missed it by THAT much!

2-7 Triple Draw

Full Tilt Red Pro Richard Ashby is now dominating this final table, moving up to more than 300,000 in chips after clashing with Bruno Portaro.

Ashby limped in from under the gun and Portaro raised before the others folded around back to Ashby, who called before drawing two cards against Portaro's one. Ashby check-raised Portaro's bet, but Portaro reraised. Ashby called and both players elected to stand pat before Ashby check-folded to Portaro's bet.

In the very next hand, Portaro limped in from under the gun and Ashby was the only one to come along, checking his option from the big blind before drawing three cards. Portaro drew two cards, then Ashby check-called Portaro's opening bet before electing to draw two cards.

Portaro drew one, then opened after Ashby checked. Ashby check-raised, Portaro four-bet it and Ashby called before both players stood pat on the last draw and both checked before the showdown:

Ashby: {8-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{2-}
Portaro: {8-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{3-}

That's about as close as you can get in this game folks! Portaro couldn't help but laugh at his misfortune, but he's now down to 125,000 in chips and will have some work to do.

Portaro Chips Up Through Ashby

Level 14

Pot Limit Omaha

The action folded to Richard Ashby who completed the small blind and Bruno Portaro checked from the big blind to go heads-up to a flop of {K-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. Ashby opened for 3,000, Portaro raised to 8,000 and Ashby called before check-calling Portaro's bet of 12,000 on the turn of the {2-Hearts}.

Ashby then checked again on the river of the {7-Spades}, only to fold after Portaro led out for 20,000. And with that, play on, says the umpire.

Oliver Gill Eliminated in 5th Place (AUD$4,760)

Level 14
Oliver Gill - 5th place
Oliver Gill - 5th place

Pot Limit Omaha

Bruno Portaro opened to 7,000 from under the gun only to have Oliver Gill slide in a stack of chips from the button amounting to 23,000.

With the action on Richard Ashby in the big blind, he pushed roughly 130,000 into the pot - albeit slightly more than pot - as Portaro folded.

"Well I'm live!" stated Gill as he slid roughly his last 70,000 into the middle.

Ashby: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{J-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Gill: {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}

The {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop kept Ashby in the lead as the {5-Hearts} on the turn gave both players a sweat.

"And bink!" yelled a now standing Gill as the dealer dropped the {10-Clubs} on the river to end Gill's tournament in fifth place for a AUD$4,760 payday as Ashby soars to 279,000 in chips.

Ospina Opens Level With a Bluff

Level 14

Pot Limit Omaha

Richard Ashby limped the button as Bruno Portaro and Daniel Ospina completed and checked their option from the blinds.

On a {10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop, Ospina led for 7,000 from the big blind with both Ashby and Portaro calling as the {2-Spades} landed on the turn.

Ospina fired out 23,000 as both players swiftly mucked to see DazzleO - as he is known online - table his {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for a bluff.
