Tran Makes the Right Call; Can't Hold

Kenny Tran

When we reached the table, the board read {j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}. Kenny Tran led out for 7,000 into a pot of around 10,000, and his opponent, Matt Ginn, went into the tank.

"All in," he said finally, committing his 30,000-chip stack.

Tran looked shocked.

"You were going to fold," he said. "And then you go all in?"

"When was I going to fold?" Ginn shot back. "I flopped it. If you flopped it too, then good on ya."

Tran took his headphones and his hat off. He leaned back in his chair, threw both hands on his head, and grabbed his hair. He sat back up, said a few words to himself, then called.

"You're miles ahead," Ginn said, tabling {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

Tran forgot that he hadn't turned his cards over, and one player that wasn't in the hand spat at him. Tran realized his cards were still facedown, then quickly revealed {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for bottom set.

The {q-Diamonds} on the turn was a brick, but the {8-Clubs} spiked on the river, giving Ginn a flush.

"Nice hand," Tran offered.

"No," Ginn returned. "You had a nice hand."

Ginn now sits with around 70,000 chips, while Tran is down to 27,500.
