Are You Ready for a Stacked Final Table in the $100,000 Challenge?
Welcome back to PokerNews' coverage of the 2015 Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge. After a few days off to allow players to play the Main Event without risk of scheduling conflict, the final table will commence today at 2:15 p.m. local time. The location will be the Aussie Millions Exhibition Hall at Crown Melbourne, and the stage couldn’t be larger.
With eight players remaining from the starting field of 70 total entries, young German superstar Ole Schemion heads the charge towards the title. Schemion is no stranger to big buy-in tournament poker and he’s certainly had his fair share of success throughout his very young career. Knowing the skill and experience he brings to the table, and combining that with his large chip lead, Schemion is without a doubt the favorite to earn the AU$1.87 million top prize.
The closest player to Schemion on the leaderboard is Jason Mo, a two-time World Series of Poker runner-up and a highly-talented player in his own right. Behind him is Erik Seidel, the winningest player in this event’s rich history.
By reaching the money this year, Seidel has now cashed in the Aussie Millions $100,000 Challenge four times. His previous results were a second-place finish in 2007 for AU$550,000, a third-place finish in 2011 for AU$625,000, and a third-place finish last year for AU$1.076 million.
Then you’ve got plenty of notables filling out the field with Justin Bonomo, Dani Stern, Richard Yong, Scott Seiver, and Alex Trevallion.
Trevallion is likely the most interesting character at the final table simply because he’s stormed onto the live tournament scene with some great performances at this year’s Aussie Millions. First, Trevallion conquered a tough field in the $25,000 Challenge to win AU$645,150. He followed that up with a 33rd-place finish out of 648 runners in the Main Event for AU$25,000. He’s already locked up another AU$310,000 here and, albeit with having to battle as the short stack, could run it up to even more. Many are very curious to see how he’ll do here and possibly in the $250,000 Challenge that will conclude the festival with a massive bang.
