Gupta Rivers Chin

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Ashish Gupta raised to 85,000 from the small blind and Max Chin called. The flop {Q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Spades} saw Gupta continue for 60,000 and Chin called before the {8-Diamonds} turn triggered a check by Gupta and the bet of Chin for 80,000. Gupta called and checked the {9-Clubs} river, Chin checked behind and Gupta was immediately frustrated when turning over {K-Spades}{J-Hearts} for the nut straight.

Chin's {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} ended up second-best and he dropped some to fall below 1 million in chips.

Derek Wolters Eliminated in 6th Place ($17,625)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Derek Wolters
Derek Wolters

Sam Steindl opened for 70,000 and Derek Wolters pushed all in for his last 240,000.

[Removed:17] shoved in over the top and Steindl let it go.

It was Yan's {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} leading Wolters' {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and the {7-Spades}{j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} board brought nothing for either, sending Wolters out sixth.

Gupta Gets There

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Ashish Gupta
Ashish Gupta

Ashish Gupta pushed all in for close to 500,000 over a [Removed:17] 65,000-chip open.

Sam Steindl over-shoved behind and Yan mucked. It was Gupta with the {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} in tough against Steindl's {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}.

However, an ace in the door of a {7-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} board ensured Gupta the double.

Yan Increases Aggression

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

David "MissOracle" Yan raised to 65,000 and Sam Steindl defended his big blind to see the flop of {Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. Steindl check-called a bet of 55,000 and they checked down the {J-Diamonds} on the turn. Steindl checked the {A-Diamonds} river and Yan's bet of 135,000 was reluctantly called to see the New Zealander emerge victorious with {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

One hand later, Max Chin raised to 60,000 and Yan moved all in to enforce a fold, Chin exposed the {10-Clubs} upon folding. Yet another hand later, Steindl opened to 60,000 and Yan's pretty hefty three-bet to 235,000 shut down all further action.

Chin checked the {j-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop, but jammed in when Steindl led for 160,000. Steindl thought for half a minute before folding.

Chin showed the {2-Spades}.

One Hour Levels

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante

Up until now the tournament ran with levels of 40 minutes, however the final table will offer one-hour levels to the remaining participants. Especially for the shorter stacks this will provide more equity and it may take a while for the next seat open to occur.

Tang Peng Eliminated in 7th Place ($12,150)

Tang Peng
Tang Peng

In the very first hand of the unofficial final table, Tang Peng raised to 60,000 from the cutoff and Sam Steindl three-bet to 165,000 from one seat over. The action folded back around to Peng and he started with a bang by moving all in for 700,000. Steindl asked the dealer to verify the stack size and then made the call.

Peng: {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Steindl: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The flop came {J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Peng looked up briefly from his phone with a wry smile on the face. Neither the {10-Clubs} turn nor the {J-Diamonds} river improved his hand and Peng was sent to the rail in 7th place for a payday of A$12,150.
