Big Call By O'Dwyer

Level 19 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

Steve O'Dwyer raised to 50,000 from the button and Igor Kurganov called from the small blind. Both players checked the all-diamond {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} flop, and then O'Dwyer called a bet of 67,000 from Kurganov on the {9-Diamonds} turn. When the {J-Spades} completed the board on the river, Kurganov fired out 180,000 and O'Dwyer thought for over a minute before making the call.

Kurganov showed he'd been bluffing with the {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, and O'Dwyer rolled over the {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for two pair and the win.

Small Pots

Level 19 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

The pots have all been small ever since that preflop shove by Chance Kornuth. There have been a min raise every hand, but no more called bets went in after the flop since. The calm before the storm?

Kornuth Picks Up Some Chips

Level 19 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

Steve O'Dwyer limped in from the hijack for 20,000 and his neighbor Igor Kurganov raised to 70,000. Chance Kornuth on the button now shoved all in and both blinds quickly released. O'Dwyer did the same, and so did Kurganov without putting up much of a show. Another non showdown pot for Kornuth, who's up to 574,000 (29 big blinds).

Two Shoves

Level 19 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

There hasn't been much action thus far minus two shoves.

In the first, Jason Les open-shoved under the gun and took down the blinds and antes.

In the other, Michael Egan opened with a raise but folded after Chance Kornuth three-bet jammed.

Benny Spindler Eliminated in 8th Place (AU$109,800)

Level 18 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Benny Spindler
Benny Spindler

Benny Spindler just lost a big pot with pocket jacks where he suffered a bad beat as his opponent hit a set. Pocket jacks proved no good again just now.

Chance Kornuth shoved all in under the gun for his last 193,000. Action folded to Benny Spindler in the big blind who had just under that and he wasted no time calling.

Chance Kornuth: {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Benny Spindler: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

The {10-Spades}{Q-Spades}{5-Spades} was flop was already looking bad for Spindler, though he still had the best hand for now. The {6-Hearts} on the turn was a complete blank but the {9-Spades} on the river was one of the cards Spindler didn't want to see. Kornuth hit his flush and Spindler was eliminated.

Benny Spindler made his exit in 8th place, taking home AU$109,800. The remaining 7 players are now merged to one table.

Dominik Nitsche Eliminated in 9th Place (AU$87,840)

Level 18 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Dominik Nitsche - 9th Place
Dominik Nitsche - 9th Place

In the very next hand after Eugene Katchalov was eliminated, Steve O'Dwyer raised to 37,000 under the gun and when action reached Dominik Nitsche in the small blind, he three-bet all in for approximately 200,000 total. Chance Kornuth folded from the big blind and O'Dwyer snap-called.

O'Dwyer: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Nitsche: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Nitsche was on the wrong end of the cooler, and he paid for it with his tournament life after the board ran out a dry {j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}.

Just one more player needs to fall before the final table of seven is established.

Eugene Katchalov Eliminated in 10th Place (AU$87,840)

Level 18 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Eugene Katchalov
Eugene Katchalov

Eugene Katchalov opened to 35,000 from the button with 457,000 behind. Igor Kurganov in the small blind carefully cut out 95,000 and slid his three-bet forward. Dominik Nitsche instantly folded and the action was back on Katchalov. He moved all in and Kurganov called.

Eugene Katchalov: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Igor Kurganov: {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

The flop came {J-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and Katchalov and Kurganov shook hands. "Good game man" Kurganov said to Katchalov.

Katchalov still had a small chance of doubling up but as soon as the {4-Spades} hit the turn, it really was all over. The {8-Hearts} on the river was of no importance to anyone anymore, and Katchalov headed for the exit just before the start of the (45-minute) dinner break.
