Spindler versus Tollerene

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

In the last hand before the break the two high stakes regulars, who must have played some hands against each other online, clashed in a sizable pot.

It was Jason Koon who started it all with a raise to 23,000 from the hijack. Ben Tollerene called from the small blind and Benny Spindler added the 12,000 from the big blind to get involved as well. All three of them checked on {K-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and the {J-Spades} on the turn was seen for free. Tollerene bet 50,000 and Spindler called. Koon instantly got out of the way.

The {A-Hearts} completed the board and Tollerene checked. Spindler bet 112,000 and Tollerene went into the tank. He thought about it for quite some time and at one point it looked like he was going to fold when he removed the chip from his cards. In the end he decided against it and called, only to muck upon being shown {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} by Spindler for the nuts.

Spindler plays 700,000 exactly after the hand, Tollerene drops down to just over half a million.

Kurganov Takes One From Kornuth

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Chance Kornuth just raised to 25,000 from the cutoff and Steve O'Dwyer called from this direct left. Igor Kurganov called from the big blind, and three players went to see a flop.

The flop brought out {5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Kurganov checked to Kornuth who bet 25,000, and O'Dwyer folded right away. Kurganov check-raised to 78,000 and Kornuth thought for a while before making the call.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and now both players checked. The river was the {7-Clubs} and again the action was checked. Kurganov showed {Q-Spades}{7-Spades} for a rivered pair of sevens, and Kornuth mucked, surrendering the pot to his opponent.

Spindler Doubles With Aces

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Action folded to Benny Spindler on the button and the German EPT champion raised to 25,000. Steve O'Dwyer defended from the big blind and checked on {10-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. Spindler fired a continuation bet of 25,000 and O'Dwyer check raised to 65,000. Spindler called in position.

The {Q-Clubs} hit the turn and O'Dwyer shoved all in, putting Spindler to the decision for his last 161,000. The German high roller tanked long and hard, and eventually called. O'Dwyer showed his {Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Spindler tabled {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}. The {2-Diamonds} on the river was a blank and Spindler doubled in the last hand before the two table set up would commence.

Sam Greenwood Eliminated in 13th Place (AU$58,560)

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Sam Greenwood - 13th Place
Sam Greenwood - 13th Place

On the button, Chance Kornuth limped in. Eugene Katchalov completed from the small blind, and then Sam Greenwood raised out of the big blind to 40,000. Kornuth came back with a reraise to 100,000, and then in quick succession, Katchalov folded, Greenwood moved all in for around 200,000, and Kornuth called.

Greenwood was at risk with the {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Kornuth had two over cards with the {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

Thanks to a king on the flop of the {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} board, Kornuth was able to score the elimination and send Greenwood packing in 13th place.

Greenwood earned AU$58,560 for his finish.

Spindler and Egan Chop One Up

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Usually chops aren't high on our list of priorities, but with the action being very slow out there, we figured we would bring you the following hand.

Michael Egan limped from the small blind and Benny Spindler made it 30,000 from the big blind. Egan gave it some thought before moving all in, and Spindler tank-called for his tournament life.

Spindler: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Egan: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{K-Clubs}{3-Spades} and the antes were chopped up between Egan and Spindler.

Les Loses Some With Aces

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

The action post-bubble has been fairly quiet, and just now we saw Jason Les lose a small pot holding pocket aces. Les limped from the small blind and Ben Tollerene checked his option in the big blind.

The flop brought out {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Les bet 16,000, which was called by Tollerene.

On the turn the {Q-Clubs} hit and now Les bet 36,000, and Tollerene called again.

The river completed the board with the {8-Spades} and now Les checked. Tollerene gave it some thought before checking behind, and Les showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}.

Tollerene showed {10-Spades}{8-Hearts} for two pair, and he picked up this pot.

Greenwood Doubles Through Katchalov

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Sam Greenwood first shoved over a raise by Chance Kornuth but didn't receive a call and just pocketed the raise blinds and antes. The next hand Greenwood was right back at it, again shoving all in. This time it was over a raise from Eugene Katchalov who had opened for 22,000 from the hijack. Katchalov didn't have much of a decision and called instantly.

Sam Greenwood: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Eugene Katchalov: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}

Katchalov didn't pair up on the flop but gained some outs anyway: {3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. The {9-Hearts} on the turn was the wrong red card for Katchalov and the {2-Spades} on the river was a blank as well. Greenwood doubled his 156,000 stack to 332,000, Katchalov down to 400,000.

Yaxi Zhu Eliminated in 14th Place (AU$58,560)

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Yaxi Zhu
Yaxi Zhu

Yaxi Zhu shoved all in for about 130,000 from the hijack seat, and Steve O'Dwyer, right next to her, instantly folded. Michael Egan re-shoved on the button for about 435,000, and both blinds instantly released.

Yaxi Zhu: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}
Michael Egan: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}

Zhu was dominated, but she must have had some hopes of drawing out after the {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{J-Clubs} flop. The {7-Clubs} on the turn wasn't a good card however, and Egan even made his flush with the {5-Clubs} on the river.

Yaxi Zhu was eliminated in 14th place, giving her a payout of AU$58,560.
