Welcome to PokerNews coverage of the 2024 Australian Poker Open, taking place at the prestigious Doltone House Western Sydney at Club Marconi. The second day of the festival sees Day 1a of the $1,500 Platinum Player Championships, with a guaranteed prize pool of AUD $ 500,000.

The Australian Poker Open represents one of the largest series in the region in recent history, offering AUD $2,000,000 in guarantees. Our live reporting team will be on the ground for three massive events, starting with the first of five flights in the Platinum Player Championships today.

Day 1a kicks off at 3 p.m. local time, with late registration open until the end of Level 9. The event features unilimited reentries, and players will begin with 50,000 chips.

Levels will last for 40 minutes on Day 1 before expanding to 60 minutes once the field combines for Day 2. Blinds for all opening flights will start at 100/200 and a 200 big blind ante, with breaks scheduled after every three levels of play. Play will continue until 12.5% percent of the field remains, where all surviving players will be in the money and bag for the night.
