Ryan Snow opened to 11,000 in middle position and action folded around to Ian Schmidt, who called on the button. Paul Petraglia defended his big blind and three saw a flop of . Petraglia open-jammed for 43,000, receiving a fold from Snow. Schmidt then went into the tank for over a minute, ultimately slamming his cards down slightly as he folded them.
"Aiyah!" said Schmidt.
Petraglia let out a small laugh, "Tough one, ah? Tough one?"
"Aiyah!" Schmidt said again. "I don't know about that one."
After starting the day with over 200,000, Petraglia ceded a double to Snow on the second hand of the day to lose a chunk of his stack. The two got stacks in preflop with Petraglia holding two jacks that were unable to hold to the ace-king of Snow.

Seventy-eight players are set to return Sunday for Day 2 of the 2021 bestbet Jacksonville Winter Open $2,000 Main Event to play down to a winner. Two starting flights saw 510 entries generate a total prize pool of $918,000, all of which will be distributed today with the lion's share of $177,817 up top for the soon-to-be-named champion.
Day 1b chip leader Tyler Payne was the lone player in the field to finish with above half a million, and he enters the day as the overall top stack in the tournament with 507,000. Payne is trailed in the counts by Nick Raio (417,000), who also advanced via Day 1b, with Day 1a chip leader Dustin Holladay (365,000) rounding out the top three in the counts.
James Calderaro (344,000), Scott Stewart (339,000), Justin Zaki (326,000), Timothy Miles (313,000), and Ricardo Eyzaguirre (281,000) all follow closely behind with top-10 stacks as well, and plenty more formidable threats can also be found all the way down the leader board.
The city of Jacksonville is well-represented on Day 2 as well, with a dozen local players coming into the day. Two of those players are Kelley Slay (182,000) and Kelly Slay (82,000), a couple not only married but also business partners away from the felt. Both Slays have cashed in the same tournament before in their careers, and they have the possibility to do so again today.
Day 2 begins in Level 15 with blinds of 3,000/5,000 and a 5,000 big-blind ante. Levels will remain 40 minutes in length through to the end with 15-minute breaks at the end of Levels 17 and 19. A 30-minute dinner break will also occur at the completion of Level 22, and all breaks thereafter will last 15 minutes once again and occur after three more levels each are played.
The bubble will be looming near when play begins, with the top 64 places due to make it into the money. That means 14 players will come up empty-handed on Day 2, while everybody else will lock up at minimum a first-level payout of $3,213. This tournament will also feature a live stream when the final table of eight is reached, found at bestbet Jacksonville's Twitch Page.
PokerNews will be on hand all the way to the finish line bringing you updates straight from the source. Keep it here to make sure you don't miss anything.
