Rogers Holds To Double

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

"All in," said Scott Stewart after action folded to him on the button. His raise was enough to put both blinds all in, and Barbara Rogers was happy to oblige in the big blind.

Barbara Rogers: {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Scott Stewart: {q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{10-Spades}{a-Clubs} and Rogers let out a whisper of a "yes" with a small fist bump. "It didn't cost you much!" she said to Stewart jokingly as the dealer counted out her 165,000, and Stewart paid it to her for play to continue with nine still remaining.

Dustin Holladay
Dustin Holladay

Just as time expired in the previous level, Dustin Holladay open-jammed his last 260,000 on the button. Ken Stacy was in the big blind and called.

Dustin Holladay: {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}
Ken Stacy: {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Stacy connected with every street, continually improving to the nuts as the runout came {5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. Holladay, who was Day 1a chip leader, earns $17,717 for his 10th-place finish, while nine players now remain. One more elimination is needed to reach the final table.

"Ace-Ten No Good?"

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Matt Mauldin saw action fold to him in the small blind and he opened to 90,000. Thad McNulty three-bet to 225,000 in the big blind and Mauldin called.

The flop came {a-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Mauldin checked to McNulty, who made a continuation-bet of 250,000. Mauldin immediately check-jammed for around another 1 million effective.

McNulty took about three seconds before looking down at one card and immediately tabling {a-Clubs}: "Ace-ten no good?" he asked.

Mauldin showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and took down the pot.

While PokerNews is offering live updates from this Main Event, there have been several other side events playing out this past week at the 2021 bestbet Jacksonville Winter Open.

In Event #6: $260 NLH Turbo w/ $50 Bounties, 104 entries created a $17,160 prize pool. That was paid out to the top 13 players, and among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Elsheekh Lagi (13th - $429), Shane Sinnott (12th - $472), Ashkan Izadi (11th - $472), and Shawn Bernier (10th - $472).

In the end, Nebraska's Taylor Howard, who is a Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) champion, defeated Michael Wagner in heads-up play to win the title for $5,235 plus an unknown number of bounties (though we know he got the $50 from Wagner and got to keep his own $50 bounty).

Jason Block Eliminated in 11th Place ($14,137)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Jason Block
Jason Block

Jason Block open-jammed for just under 300,000 in the hijack and Ken Stacy called in the big blind.

Jason Block: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Ken Stacy: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

Block connected with the flop {4-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{k-Hearts} and was one card away from a double after the turn {2-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for him, the two outer fell on the river {6-Hearts} to give Stacy a set of sixes and eliminate Block in 11th place.

Stewart Retakes the Chip Lead

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

A series of bets had created a pile of chips already in the middle on a board of {j-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. Action was heads up between Matt Mauldin, who was under the gun and up against another big stack in Scott Stewart, who was on the button. Mauldin checked to Stewart and he cut out a bet of 650,000.

After a minute of thought, Mauldin let his hand go and Stewart took down the pot, resulting in the two effectively exchanging stacks to put Stewart on top of the leader board once more.

Tyler Payne Eliminated in 12th Place (14,137)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Tyler Payne
Tyler Payne

Mitch Smith raised to 70,000 in middle position and was called by boptjh Tyler Payne in the cutoff and Matt Mauldin, who was on the button. The three saw a flop of {10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Smith checked to Payne, who bet 145,000 and received a call from Mauldin.

Upon Smith's fold, action went heads up to the turn {j-Spades} and Payne shoved his remaining 495,000 into the middle. Mauldin went deep into the tank and eventually dropped a chip onto the felt to signify a call.

Tyler Payne: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Matt Mauldin: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}

Mauldin had called correctly with second pair on the river but still needed to fade 10 outs to earn the knockout and the pot. The river {2-Spades} did just that, and Payne was eliminated in 12th place. With the pot, Mauldin now finds himself as the chip leader with 2.8 million and just three more eliminations needed to reach the final table.

Guy Caudill Eliminated in 14th Place; Kelley Slay Eliminated in 13th Place ($11,475)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Guy Caudill
Guy Caudill

Ken Stacy opened to 80,000 in the cutoff and Guy Caudill called all in for his last 20,000 on the button. Chris Perry defended his big blind and side-pot action went heads up to a flop of {2-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Both players checked.

Perry bet 50,000 on the turn {2-Clubs} and. Stacy raised to 200,000. Perry thought long and hard before calling, leading to action going check-check on the river {3-Spades} to take the hand to showdown.

Guy Caudill: {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Chris Perry: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Ken Stacy: {q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

Perry was the only one with an ace and scooped both pots, resulting in Caudill taking 14th place.

On the very next hand, Kelley Slay shoved his last few big blinds into the middle and Stacy was the one to give him action.

Kelley Slay: {a-}{k-}
Ken Stacy: {q-}{10-} - suited

Stacy hit a queen on the turn to send Slay packing in 13th, resulting in two eliminations in as many hands. Tables were then balanced, and both tables are now playing six handed.
