Deja Vu for Petiote as He Doubles Up Studdard
In a hand relayed to PokerNews, Lunique Petiote opened to 18,000 and called when Darius Studdard three-bet to 62,000.
The flop came and Petiote check-called a bet of 52,000 from Studdard. Petiote then led all-in on the turn and Harper called off a stack of 90,000 and Studdard called.
Darius Studdard:
Lunique Petiote:
Studdard was far in front with trips but Petiote had outs to a club flush. But the on the river didn't do it for him and he was left with crumbs, only to be eliminated a few hands later.
By his own admission, Petiote played like a "maniac" throughout the tournament, including an eerily similar hand that took place late in Day 1b where he raised all-in on the turn with a turned straight draw and couldn't improve against the trips of Matthew Sundberg, who doubled to take the Day 1b chip lead.
