"MBohmerwald23" Wins Mania #15 $1,060 Heads-up Bracket Battle NJ for $14,500 plus a $10,000 Ticket

After five grueling rounds of heads-up play, "MBohmerwald23" emerged the winner out of a starting field of 29 players. While earlier rounds took as long as an hour or more to finish, the final round of play was lightning-fast, ending in Level 1 with "MBohmerwald23" winning $14,500 of the $39,000 prize pool, plus the added $10,000 HU Added Ticket.

The winner faced down "Scuba" in the final match, but the speed of the final game wasn't a reflection on the play. It all ended on a huge flopped cooler in Level 1 after "Scuba" flopped top pair, but it wasn't enough to beat the over-pair for "MBohmerwald23".

The Day's Action

Play got underway for Mania #15 $1,060 Heads-up Bracket Battle at 6 pm with 29 players ready for action. Three players got a pass through Round 1, and it took more than an hour for the Round 1 matches to finish. "audidriver" was the final player to make it through, but one of the casualties in the first round was the headliner of the whole show, Darren Elias. He fell in the first round to the eventual winner of the event though.

Round 2 got underway with 16 players in action, and it was another hour before they got down to eight players left. Most of Round 3 ended pretty quickly, but the match between Michael "Gags30" Gagliano and Jerrad "bbissick" Pawar was a long one. Gagliano was down to fumes at one point during the match but managed to build back up and take it down in the end.

With action down to four players remaining, they were all in the money. "Scuba" was the first player through to the finals after they busted Brandon "DoorKnob" Shane, and for a while, it looked like Michael "Gags30" Gagliano would be the other finalist. He got a huge lead early over eventual winner "MBohmerwald23", but couldn't hold on, ending in 3rd place.
