Day 4 of the Borgata Winter Poker Open WPT Main Event Set to Start

Yesterday the Borgata Winter Poker Open WPT continued yesterday, with a field of 188 hopeful players enduring a marathon session in their attempt to make the money. It was approaching 15 hours of play before the field was whittled down to the final 36 survivors, and along the way the money bubble burst to leave the last 120 with an assured payday. Farid Jattin emerged as the overwhelming chip leader and enters Day 4 holding a significant lead over his closest competitor, Jared Jaffee. The story entering Day 3 was the unlikely wire-to-wire performance of amateur Laz Hernandez, who became the chip leader after Day 1 and turned the trick again to close out Day 2. Hernandez owned the largest stack in play for most of the day, but he was cut apart mercilessly by pro Byron Kaverman in a series of three hands.
The last 120 survivors were guaranteed at least a $6,000+ score, and while there were many recognizable names to get through the bubble, these players failed to bag and tag by the end of the night: Aaron Massey (109th), Amnon Filippi (107th), (81st), Dan O'Brien (80th), Robert Panitch (69th), Matt Affleck (65th), Isaac Baron (52nd), Harrison Gimbel (44th), and John Racener (38th).
Those pros and notables were unable to navigate the minefield, but made their way through the tough field to return for Day 4, including WPT bestbet Jacksonville Fall Poker Scramble winner Jared Jaffee (2,340,000), Faraz Jaka (1,348,000), Eric Wasserson (1,210,000), Kaverman (997,000), Chad Brown (896,000), Ronit Chamani (807,000), John Holley (614,000), John D'Agostino (510,000, John DiBella (423,000), and Joe Serock (301,000).
Today the final 36 players have moved to the Borgata Poker Room's high stakes area to compete for the right to appear at one of poker's most celebrated destinations: the WPT final table stage. Play resumes at noon local time here at the Borgata, as the field will be pared down to the final table.
