The 2019 Borgata Poker Open (BPO) Event #12: $1,090 Six-Max NLH began with 244 runners including some heavy hitters in the world of poker. On Saturday, just 18 returned to action and it was 24-year-old Canadian IT networking student Kevin Javier coming out on top to win it outright for $62,718.

I feel good. This is my biggest score by far, said Javier, who came to the Borgata for the first time to play poker with a friend. I think I played great. Heads up was against a really good player. I just got lucky. The field was full of people with big scores, it was very intimidating.

Prior to the win, Javier had $58,971 in live tournament earnings with a prior career-best of $26,344, which came last month when he finished seventh in the World Series of Poker Circuit Playground Poker Club Main Event.

One huge hand that helped propel Javier to the win came against three-time Borgata 6-max champ Michael Kemeter with four players remaining. Both men rivered a spade flush using both their down cards but Javiers was slightly better.

That was definitely the biggest hand of the tournament, Javier reflected. It was just a cooler. He couldnt do much for his part.

Whats next for Javier?

[The WPT] Main Event, looking forward to it, he said with a big smile.
