Event #23: $300 Big Wednesday NLH drew a massive total of 811 creating a prize pool of over $200,000.

The day saw plenty of big-name pros fall by the wayside including Tony Dunst, Vinny Pahuja, Yaser Al-Keliddar, Timothy Finne and Soukha Kachittavong.

It was a long night of tournament poker that extended into the early morning hours and with the clock about to strike 8:00 a.m. our newest BWPO Champion was finally crowned.

Jean "Prince" Gaspard was the last man standing after an epic heads up battle with Nikolaos Platis that lasted nearly two hours. Gaspard earned $47,042 and his fourth Borgata Poker Open trophy.

"He was a really good player, a tough player and also a very polite kid, I enjoyed playing against him," Gaspard said as he posed for his winner's photo.

Platis Sets Up Gaspard to Take the Lead

Jean Gaspard limped in and Nikolaos Platis raised to 900,000. Gaspard called and they saw a flop of {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

Platis tossed out a bet of 1,000,000 and Gaspard quickly called. The turn was the {2-Clubs} and Platis fired out a bet of 1,500,000.

Gaspard called and the {q-Hearts} completed the board. Platis slid out a bet of 2,000,000 and Gaspard moved all in covering Platis who snap called for 6,050,000.

Gaspard showed {q-Spades}{10-Clubs} for two pair but it was no good as Platis turned over his {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} for top set. "I knew the cooler was coming but not like that" Gaspard said as Platis stacked his chips.

Evan Tan limped in from the small blind and Nikolaos Platis checked from the big. They saw a flop of {q-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Tan check-called a bet of 300,000 from Platis.

Both players checked the {8-Clubs} turn card and the {2-Clubs} completed the board. Tan moved all in for 1,500,000 and after giving it some thought Platis called.

Tan showed {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} for just jack high and Platis tabled {9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for a pair of nines. Tan was eliminated in 3rd place and he takes home $16,772 for his efforts.
