Federico Ottenio Wins the 2020 BWPO Event #12: $340 Omaha/Stud Hi/Lo 8 or Better for $6,400
Day 2 of the 2020 BWPO Event #12: $340 Omaha/Stud Hi/Lo 8 or Better event only lasted about five and a half hours when Brooklyn, New York resident Federico Ottenio accumulated all 2.1 million chips in play. Due to an adjusted payout agreement made when four players remained, Ottenio collected $6,400 for finishing in first.
This is the third Borgata title and second Open Series win for Ottenio. His best live cash of $325,127 came for his first-place finish in the 2015 Borgata Poker Open Event #1: $560 Deep Stack Kick-Off $2 Million GTD event. It is also Ottenio's second cash of this BWPO series; his first came in Event #3: $500 Black Chip Bounty NLH, where he finished 27th for $1,780.
Heads-up play began with Ottenio holding a 3:1 chip lead over runner-up John Reiss. At one point during their battle, Reiss pulled nearly even in chips but was never able to take the advantage. Reiss earned $5,600 for second place, but the WSOP Circuit ring winner from Omaha, Nebraska, really had his sights set on that hefty Borgata Hotel replica trophy. He was denied, however, and had to settle for just the cash.
Third place and $5,244 went to the final woman remaining in this event, Pamela Jamison. Despite starting the day 15th in chips out of 20 returning players, she managed to hold on to make the money and then the final table. After scoring a double knock-out of Leonardo Palermo and Day 2 chip leader Joseph Cambareri in fifth and sixth place respectively, Jamison briefly held the chip lead. This is the Pennsylvanian's first official reported tournament cash here at Borgata and will also be her best live cash. Borgata tournament regular Tim D'Alessandro was also near the bottom of the chip counts at the start of play, but he moved up the ladder to finish fourth for $5,000.
Also making the final table of this event was Menachem Rosenberg, (seventh place) who won two trophy events during the 2019 Borgata Fall Poker Open last November (HOSE and PLO/8).
A couple of notables who made Day 2 but failed to cash were Eddie "Good" [Removed:363] and Zach Gruneberg. [Removed:363] was next-to-last in chips at the start of the day and ended up bubbling, busting out in 13th place. He's one of only a handful of players to successfully defend a title at Borgata — he won the 2018 Fall Poker Open PLO event, then won the same event one year later during the 2019 BFPO. Gruneberg won two events last September during the 2019 Borgata Poker Open, but despite coming in second in chips, he failed to cash in this event, busting out in 14th.
