Welcome To Day 2 of the 2021 Colorado Poker Championship $1,450 Main Event

Bally's Black Hawk
Bally's Black Hawk

Day 2 of the Bally's Black Hawk 2021 Colorado Poker Championship (CPC) $1,450 Main Event is set to begin at 11 a.m. local time with 47 players returning and having their sights set on making the final table. Three starting flights drew 307 entries and generated a total prize pool of $389,276 set to be paid out to the top 31 finishers. A full day of poker is on the books, as 47 will play down to nine before returning for the final table on Monday's Day 3.

Rocco Palumbo (554,500), Day 1a's chip leader, saw nobody catch him on the following two flights, and he will enter the day atop the counts with Day 1b chip leader Mike Kenny (546,000) following closely behind. Steve Wilkie (504,00) also comes into the day with a stack of above 500,000,

Others coming in with above-average stacks include Day 1c chip leader Jason Vanstrom (305,000), Jorden Helstern (265,500), last month's MSPT Black Hawk runner up Tyler Potts (213,500), and Ryan Dodson (201,000).

Play will resume with 7:35 remaining in Level 14 (2,000/4,000/4,000), the stopping point on all three Day 1 flights. Upon the beginning of Level 15, blinds will increase to one hour in length, creating even more opportunity for even more deep-stacked poker than Day 1's 40-minute levels offered.

As mentioned, the top 31 finishers will make it into the money, meaning there's still a lot of work left to be done for all still in contention to earn a payday. Not a single player will be coming into the day with less than 10 big blinds, as even the five shortest stacks to enter the day in Phil Cummings (60,000), Ian Pelz (72,500), Hassan Tahsildar (82,000), Peter Johnson (88,000), and Ben Keeline (92,000) will all have plenty of time and maneuverability to attempt an ascent up the counts.
