Peck Eliminated, Lekarczyk Doubles; Chip Counts from Table 6

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Mitch Lekarczyk
Mitch Lekarczyk

Austin Peck was all in from the hijack for 15,700 into a pot of around 18,000 on the turn against Zach Gutierrez, who was in the cutoff. The board read {7-Spades}{j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}.

"I feel like you might have me outkicked," said Gutierrez while thinking about his decision. He then came to the conclusion of, "there's only one kicker out there that beats me," as he made the call.

Austin Peck: {k-Spades}{9-Spades}
Zach Gutierrez: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Gutierrez found himself having made the correct call, needing to fade Peck's outs to a flush and three of a kind. The river came {2-Clubs} and Peck tapped the table, congratulating Gutierrez on a nice hand as he got up and left the tournament area.

Moments later, Matt Livingston put Mitch Lekarczyk all in on the turn with a board of {2-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{k-Spades} in a cutoff-versus-small blind situation and Lekarczyk was happy to call.

Matt Livingston: {8-Spades}{9-Spades}
Mitch Lekarczyk: {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}

Livingston had flopped top pair and found himself with second pair and a flush draw when he put Lekarczyk in. He found himself up against Lekcarczyk's set of deuces, needing to hit a spade on the river to avoid having to pay off the double.

The river fell {7-Diamonds} and Lekarczyk secured the double at Livingston's expense.

Keeline Doubles In Wrong Direction; Chip Counts from Table 3

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Rich Dixon opened to 2,300 in the hijack and received calls from Bobby Opila on the button and Steve Wilkie in the small blind. Ben Keeline was in the big blind and shoved all in for about 24,600. Dixon went all in for a bit more, getting Opila and Wilkie out of the way.

"Double down!" said Keeline as he tabled {7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}.

Dixon showed {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

The flop came {10-Hearts}{9-Spades}{a-Spades} to give Dixon a pair of aces, leaving Keeline in need of some combination of running cards to stay alive. The turn came {6-Spades} to give Keeline outs to both spades and a gutshot, but the river fell {3-Hearts} to leave him dry, earning Dixon the knockout along the way.

Lewis Eliminated by Gonzales

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
David Lewis
David Lewis

David Lewis was just eliminated by Danny Gonzales in a blind-on-blind battle. According to Gonzales, he raised to 3,000 in the small blind after action folded to him. Lewis defended his big blind and the flop came {x-Spades}{x-Spades}{5-Spades}. Gonzales threw out a continuation-bet and Lewis went all in over the top. Gonzales called.

Danny Gonzales: {k-Spades}{6-}
David Lewis: {k-}{5-}

Gonzales found himself in need of hitting a spade or a six to improve to the best hand. The turn {6-} gave him a commanding lead and the river fell {q-} to secure the elimination, bringing him near six figures shortly after re-entering the tournament.

Maxwell Busts, Re-Enters; Uhlmann Re-Enters

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Chris Maxwell was just eliminated after getting the last of his chips in preflop from middle position against Danny Gonzales, who was in the big blind.

Chris Maxwell: {6-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Danny Gonzales: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

After just having doubled via an opponent hitting their two outer with an underpair, only to hit one himself to re-improve to the best hand, Maxwell saw his fortunes reversed. The flop came {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts} to give him a full house, sixes full of eights. However, the turn fell {8-Hearts} to give Gonzales eights full of kings, leaving Maxwell in need of hitting the case six in order to improve to quads.

The river fell {3-Clubs} and he was eliminated temporarly, getting up from his seat to head to the registration desk to re-enter.

While the hand was occurring, Samuel Uhlmann entered the tournament, taking a seat at what has been dubbed by tournament director, Dennis King as the "pit of death" due to the amount of eliminations that have occurred at the table recently.

One Double, Two More Eliminations

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Chris Maxwell had just gotten his last 12,900 all in preflop in the cutoff against Ronnie Lamb, who had given him action from the small blind.

Chris Maxwell: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Ronnie Lamb: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}

The dealer fanned a flop of {q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, suddenly putting Lamb in a commanding lead. However, the turn came {k-Clubs} to put Maxwell back in front. The river fell {j-Hearts} and he secured the double.

A few minutes earlier, Stephen Zipprich was eliminated by David Lewis after having a flush draw miss against Lewis' pair of nines.

Martinez Scores Double Knockout

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Anthony Martinez
Anthony Martinez

Danny Gonzales and Steve Wilkie were both seen no longer in their seats at Table 8 after being eliminated in a three-way all in pot.

According to an observer, the two of them got stacks in on the turn with Anthony Martinez on a board of {q-}{8-}{4-}{q-}.

Danny Gonzales: {4-}{4-}
Steve Wilkie: {q-}{6-}
Anthony Martinez: {a-}{q-}

Both Wilkie and Martinez hit trip queens on the turn but it had improved Gonzales' flopped set to a full house. Gonzales found himself one card away from tripling up to around 140,000 as long as he could fade a six, an eight, or an ace.

Unfortunately for Gonzales, Martinez had Barry Greenstein on his side as the river came {a-} to give him a higher full house, earning the double knockout and bringing his stack to around 189,000 in the process.
