Trickett Tops Last 18; Final Table in Sight
It's almost time for Day 3 here at the Epic Poker League's inaugural Main Event. The final 18 players are all in the money and guaranteed at least $43,000 and some change for their work so far, but there's still plenty of poker to be played if they want to win the $1,000,000 first-place prize that's up for grabs. After play was ver last night, the players voted to remove $17,340 from second place's payday and add it to the top spot in order to make it an even seven figures. Now the winner can officially say he won a cool million.
You can find the table draw for the final 18 below in the blog. Sam Trickett boasts the largest stack at 1.032 million in chips. he's the only person over one million and holds nearly a 400,000-chip lead over Hasan Habib in second place. Isaac Baron, Erik Seidel and Adam Levy round out the top five spots.
On the short stack is Justin Bonomo with 42,000. That's right, Bonomo made it to the money with less than the starting stack of 50,000, but a couple of doubles and he'll be right back in the thick of it. Dan Fleyshman and Huck Seed are the other two players with under 100,000 in chips. All three of these players will be looking to get after some chips early before the blinds and antes eat up their stacks, but one good thing is the structure of the event allows for a lot of play and very gradual blind increases.
Play for today will last until the final table of six is reached. Filming of all three tables will be going on all day and although PokerNews' access is a bit limited, we'll be bringing you as much action as we can. Stay tuned as the cards will be in the air shortly!
