The action folded around to Fintan Gavin who made it 160,000 from the small blind. Sebastian Ruthenberg made the call in the big.
On the flop, Gavin bet 185,000, and Ruthenberg called.
A turn led to a prompt all in from Gavin.
"Wow," said the German.
With Gavin fidgeting in his seat, scrunching up his face and generally making little effort to maintain a stoic poker face, Ruthenberg made the fold.
Gavin showed a king, but that wasn't enough for Ruthenberg who pleaded to see the other card. "I had you," claimed Gavin. "Well, why don't you show then," Sebastian replied.
In the end, Gavin didn't show his second card and it looks as though we'll have to wait until the televised broadcast to find out if he really did have his man beat.
Action folded around to Sebastian Ruthenberg in the small blind and he completed. Davidi Kitai checked his big blind option and they took the flop heads up. Ruthenberg led out for 60,000 and Kitai called. The turn came the and both men checked.
When the river fell the , Ruthenberg checked again. Kitai pushed out 140,000 and Ruthenberg gave the bet a solid 60 seconds of consideration before throwing his hand away. Kitai found himself back over the 1 million chip mark with that pot.
Dren Ukella's turn to double up this time. He came over the top of Fintan Gavin's preflop raise with , before being called by a pot-committed Irishman who held .
The flop will have caused the German to perspire profusely, but a harmless turn and river gave him the pot.
On the first hand back from dinner break, Dren Ukella opened for 120,000, Daniele Mazzia moved all in for an additional 340,000 and Ukella made the call. Mazzia's dominated Ukella's and his hand held up on the board to double him up to 1,120,000-- quite remarkable considering it wasn't too long ago he was down to 1.3 big blinds.
Ukella is now the shortest stack among the remaining five, with 540,000.
Fintan Gavin opened for a raise to 160,000 and a short-stacked Jason Mercier moved all in for just under 500,000. Gavin instantly called and the players showed:
Gavin:
Mercier:
Mercier, as mentioned in the final table commentary as well as from Mercier himself, had won only one of his last eight coinflips and with the exception of his miracle on the turn against Martin Nielsen earlier today, had not been running too well. Point being, Mercier needed more dramatic come-from-behind theatrics in this hand to avoid a sixth place finish. It was relatively quiet as the board ran out . Gavin's queens were best and Jason Mercier was our 6th place finisher. He'll take home 227,000 for his efforts here in Barcelona and with this cash takes his EPT earnings over the 1,000,000 mark.
Fintan Gavin emerged the clear leader with 2,527,000 chips.
