Hofmeister the Bluffmeister

Serock stares across the table at Hofmeister
Serock stares across the table at Hofmeister
Joe Serock has accumulated one of the tournament's top stacks today with a very aggressive playing style, entering every pot he plays with a pre-flop raise. Across the table from Serock sits Daniel Hofmeister of Germany, who had apparently had enough of Serock's bullying and opted to take a stand against his aggressive opponent in a pivotal hand that left Serock visibly stunned.

Joe opened the pot with an 1,800 pre-flop raise and was called by both Hofmeister on the button and an unknown player in the big blind. The flop then came {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and the action was checked around to Hofmeister who led out with a 2,500 bet; Serock was the lone caller.

The turn brought a seemingly harmless {2-Diamonds} and Serock passed the first action to Daniel who fired again - this time tossing five 1,000 chips into the middle. Serock quickly cut the chips from his stack and made the call.

The last card to fall off the deck was the {6-Clubs} and Serock checked again. Hofmeister then cut two stacks of chips from the rest of his neatly organized pile - each one worth 5,000 - but slid them across the betting line one at a time. The dealer correctly ruled that his bet was of the string variety and permitted a 5,000 wager. Serock tanked and tanked and tanked before eventually tossing his cards into the muck pile, only to have his nemesis table {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a stone cold bluff.

Serock sat motionless, yet you could practically feel the angst steaming from his pores in the wake of the bluff. Serock was left with a still-manageable 35,000 in chips after the hand.
