Big blind Ted Lawson, who has seemed to be short all day and still has only about 40,000, seemed a bit pained about what to do. He folded after thirty seconds.
"How much do you have?" Barer asked Lawson.
"What difference does it make?" an irritated Lawson replied.
Barer turned to the dealer, "Am I not allowed to ask him that?"
"What difference does it make?" Lawson repeated. "I'm not in the hand!"
"It actually does make a difference," Barer told him.
"It does?" Lawson asked bitterly. "Then here." He lifted his hands and pushed his big chips forward so that Barer could eyeball his stack. Satisfied with what he saw, Barer folded.
