Juha Lauttamus Eliminated in 10th Place (€42,600)
Showdown
Roux:
Lauttamus:
The players were flipping a coin for more than two million chips with Lauttamus at risk. And the flop would be an ugly sight indeed. It rolled out to pull Roux into the lead with his pair of kings. A crowd of spectators pressed in around the table, bantering back and forth at machine-gun pace in a myriad of languages. Tournament Director Thomas Kremser was calling the action on the microphone.
He tapped the dealer on the shoulder, she burned a card, and Kremser said, "Juha will now need to catch a jack in order to stay alive..."
Turn:
The crowd all fell one step backwards in shock as Lauttamus had come back to snag a commanding lead in the hand with his full boat. When the commotion settled just a bit, Kremser tapped the dealer agan and called the river:
"Juha doesn't want to see a king..."
River: !
Another huge eruption came from the crowd as Roux had re-re-sucked out to make kings full of threes and claim Lauttamus as his victim. Oohs and Aahs lingered around the room for a few seconds as half of the spectators stood with their mouths wide open in disbelief.
It wasn't for lack of trying, but Juha Lauttamus was unable to stay alive on his final hand. He's been eliminated in 10th place, earning himself a pay bump up over €40,000. In other news, Thomas Kremser is clearly some sort of divinely-appointed oracle.
