Toni Pettersson raised, only for Atanas Gueorguiev to reraise from the small blind. Pettersson pushed, Gueorguiev called, and they were on their backs.
Gueorguiev:
Pettersson: all in for 2,360,000 with
Board:
Pettersson doubled to 4,920,000 and although his expression wasn't quite a smile, it was the closest thing to it we've seen all day.
The next hand Alexey Rybin raised to 275,000 and the crippled Gueorguiev called all in for his last 200,000. Small blind Jakob Carlsson called the raise, but laid it down to a bet from Rybin on the flop. On their backs.
Rybin: for top pair, a gutshot and a flush draw
Gueorguiev: in some very serious trouble with
Turn: to give Rybin the nut flush and leave Gueorguiev drawing dead
River: an academic
We are down our last Bulgarian, and our finalists are now seven.
Alexey Rybin raised to 275,000 from middle position, Liv Boeree thought but folded after staring at the Russian for a minute. Pettersson called from the big blind but then check-folded to a 500,000 bet on the flop.
Once again, Toni Pettersson raised and took the blinds. The next hand Liv Boeree raised, and she got away with the blinds as well. But when Piper raised it up, Atanas Gueorguiev shoved on him from the big blind for 2,320,000. Piper took off his sunglasses and made a face like he'd just dropped his ice cream on the pavement. He spent a few moments apparently trying to gouge out his own eyes, and then folded.
Alexey Rybin raised to 275,000 and Giuseppe Diep made the call despite being fairly short.
The flop came and Rybin bet 600,000. Scarf concealing half his face, Diep thought for a moment but folded leaving himself very short now with just 1,500,000 left.
Toni Pettersson limped, as did chip leader Jakob Carlsson in the small blind. Giuseppe Diep in the big blind wasn't having any of it, though, and raised to 650,000. Both players folded and he took the pot.
Liv Boeree raised to 325,000 from the button and both blinds folded. She took the pot.
Perhaps seeing how well this worked, the next hand Toni Pettersson raised from the button, to a slightly smaller 275,000. Again, the blinds folded and the button-raise took the pot.
The next hand Michael Piper tried it on for an ever-so-slightly-more-than-minimum 250,000 - but this time Alexey Rybin pushed all in from the big blind for 2,090,000. Piper asked for a count, but didn't take too long about folding.
