Veldhuis Doubles and Then Some

Simon Ehne opened with a raise in the cutoff and Lex Veldhuis went all in from the big blind. Ehne called and tabled {A-?}{Q-?} to Veldhuis' {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

The flop came down {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and things looked very grim for Lex. The {K-Spades} turn card left Lex just two outs to keep his tournament alive. Alas, the {7-Diamonds} fell on the river and Veldhuis avoided elimination.

Two hands later he opened to 13,000 on the button and Alex Kravchenko called from the big blind. The {K-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} flop was checked by both, as was the {8-Spades} turn card. When the {6-Spades} hit the river, Kravchenko bet 8,000. Veldhuis bumped it to 40,000 and Kravchenko called.

Lex tabled {K-Spades}{9-Spades} and Kravchenko could only shake his head, accepting defeat. He flashed {5-Spades}{4-Spades} and tossed his hand to the muck.

Lex is up to 255,000 while Kravchenko under 60,000.
