Rivet is Not a Happy Casher

The action folded around to the blinds at the six-handed table farthest from us, and Matt Perrins opened to 40,000 from the small. In the big, Guillaume Rivet three-bet to 93,000, and Perrins asked him how much he was playing. Rivet had about 700,000 behind, and Perrins eventually announced an all-in four-bet. Rivet's call couldn't have come any quicker, and the cards were on their backs:

Perrins: {8-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}
Rivet: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}

"Shit," Rivet said under his breath, leaning back in his chair to sweat his fate, and a bit worried about the two live cards he was looking at. His uneasiness was fulfilled right on the flop as the dealer spread out {8-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} to pull Perrins into a big lead with two to come. The turn {2-Spades} and river {10-Hearts} failed to find his overcards, though, and he has been relieved of his full stack.

"F***!" he said briskly, gathering his belongings and shooting an evil glance back at the table as he walked off to collect his payout.

After the hand, Perrins was chatting with buddy Nik Persaud about how that hand played out. "I mean, it was kinda bad," he admitted. "But he made it 93,000, and I thought he'd make it more than that if he wanted action. When he makes it 93, he has to think I have too many chips to spaz. If he'd made it like 110,000, I'd have just folded it."

Perrins doesn't have to justify anything to anyone; his stack will do the talking. That big boost vaults him all the way up into third place with about 1.85 million now.
