Slowly Slow-Lee Catchy Monkey

Artist's impression. Lee did not really say that.
Artist's impression. Lee did not really say that.

Young American (we're not sure "Floridian" is a word but we like it) Jason Lee has been fairly quiet so far today, but not completely inactive. Just now he raised to 65,000 from the button and in the big blind Frederik Jensen eyed up his stack before flat-calling.

They saw a {5-Spades}{9-Clubs}{k-Clubs} flop and Jensen checked. Lee put in a 75,000 bet, and Jensen promptly folded. To applause from Annette Obrestad and Scott Montgomery up on the stage where the press are, Lee picked up the pot. Obrestad and Montgomery immediately returned to playing games on their phones.

No Remorse for Lewis

Frederik Jensen raised in the cutoff only for Toby Lewis to make it 175,000 from the big blind. Jensen considered it briefly before passing - this time, it seems, he believed Lewis.

So next hand Jensen opened for 60,000 again - and Lewis made it 175,000, this time from the small blind. After a moment or two, Jensen called. The media started to forma kind of protective wall around the table and now fairly large pot.

They saw a {k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop and Lewis bet out 195,000. Jensen called, and as the pot grew larger, so the wall of media and grew closer and larger, now padded with railers who had wandered in.

The turn was the {8-Spades} and Lewis now checked, staring at the felt with a resolute blankness. Jensen squinted at Lewis, and then checked behind. The wall of media stayed where they were.

They saw a {q-Hearts} river and both players checked again. Lewis turned over {j-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for a rivered pair - and Jensen made a "pfffft" sound as he revealed his ahead-until-then pocket {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

"Nice hand," he said.

Lewis - up to 4.3 million
Jensen - down to 880,000

Jacobson's Ladder

Martin Jacobson moved all-in from the button for around 400,000 and Sam Trickett gave him a spin in the big blind. Jacobson flipped over {A-Clubs} {6-Spades} and then both players laughed when Trickett turned over {A-Diamonds} {6-Hearts}

"Red!" shouted the British rail and they almost got their wish but the board came {9-Spades} {10-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} for a chop.

The very next hand and Jacobson was all-in again versus Trickett, this time behind with {K-Spades} {J-Spades} against the British player's {A-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}. The flop came {2-Clubs} {4-Spades} {10-Clubs} and once again the UK rail shouted, "Five-ball!" but after the turn {4-Clubs} paired the board, the river was the {J-Hearts} and Jacobson doubled up to 850,000 shaking EPT Champion Anton Wigg's hand in celebration.

Rob Hollink Eliminated in 7th Place (55,872)

Rob Hollink
Rob Hollink

The 'Warning, empty' light was blinking furiously over Rob Hollink's stack as he shook his head on the button at the start of this level (15k/30k), deciding instead to pass and move in the next hand for his remaining 151k. Teddy Sheringham made the call in the small blind quickly with {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and Hollink's {10-Spades}{8-Spades} hit the table.

The flop: {3-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and Hollink stood up.
The turn: {8-Clubs} and a couple of outs arrived for him...
River: {7-Spades}

The final Dutch player hits the rail and now the UK represents half the players still remaining at this final table!

Sergio Coutinho Eliminated in 8th Place (37,248)

Sergio Coutinho-ut

After Coutinho's stack was sent plunging feltwards, he sat tight on his remaining 200k or so until finding a spot right before the break to ship it in on the button when it folded to him. Small blind Sam Trickett moved in over the top, which shifted big blind Rob Hollink's hand into the muck quickly; heads up:

Coutinho: {8-Hearts}{6-Spades} perhaps unlucky not to be live-r vs.
Trickett: {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Board: {5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{5-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and we lose our final Portuguese player still remaining in the EPT Vilamoura Main Event.

Break O'Clock

After a most dramatic end to the level, the seven remaining players are taking 15 minutes to sun themselves outside, while Sergio Coutinho heads off on a rather longer break.

Back soon.

Mildly Interesting Hands Of The Last 10 Minutes

Sam Trickett in the big blind called a raise from button Jason Lee, but on the flop of {A-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} it was Trickett who fired out a bet of 65,000 which Lee called. The {K-Hearts} came on the turn and now Trickett bet 165,000 which had Lee looking very unimpressed and eventually folding while pulling a disatisfied face to his friends on the rail, Scott Montgomery and Annette Obrestad.

Next hand saw Sam Trickett push from the small blind against big blind Rob Hollink. The Dutchman appeared to give it some serious consideration but decided to fold.

The following two hands saw Teddy Sheringham and Toby Lewis both raise UTG and win the blinds and antes after receiving no callers.

Finally in a pot that almost got very big, Frederik Jensen opened to 50,000 before Toby Lewis put out a 3-bet to 135,000 from the button. Jensen then fired back, making it 295,000 and Lewis sighed, then folded.
