Heads Up Hand Action

An update on the heads up action.

PokerStars sponsored player Jesus Cortes Lizano opened from the button to 220,000 and Kent Lundmark called. The flop was {6-Diamonds} {j-Diamonds} {q-Spades}, Lundmark checked and Lizano forced the fold when he bet 390,000.

Then Lundmark raised on the button to 240,000 and Lizano called. The flop was {9-Spades} {8-Hearts} {5-Clubs} and Lizano check-called a 250,000 continuation bet by Lundmark. The turn and river were both checked through and Lizano won the hand with {k-Spades} {7-Spades} - Lundmark holding {a-Hearts} {q-Hearts}.

Hitting the Lundmark

After our two heads-up warriors taking it in turns to steal the blinds for a while, a more interesting pot developed as Jesus Cortes Lizano in the big blind reraised Kent Lundmark's button min-raise to 705,000. Lundmark called and they saw a flop.

As it turned out they checked the {j-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{10-Hearts} flop and {k-Spades} turn. Lizano checked the {k-Clubs} river as well, but this time Lundmark bet 925,000. Lizano called, but mucked when Lundmark turned over {j-Spades}{q-Spades} for two pair.

Lundmark is at around 13 million to Lizano's roughly 10 million.

Deuces Are Good For Lizano

Most of the early play has seen the players play preflop poker but we did just see a flop, turn and showdown on the river.

Jesus Cortes Lizano raised to 270,000, Kent Lundmark called and both men saw the dealer put out the {7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop. Lundmark checked, Lizano made a 385,000 continuation bet and Lundmark made the call.

Both players checked the {3-Hearts} on the turn, and again with the arrival of the {6-Diamonds} on the river but Lundmark quickly mucked when Lizano showed he had paired the deuce on the flop.

Konstantin Puchkov Eliminated in 3rd Place (300,000)

Konstantin Puchkov
Konstantin Puchkov

Kent Lundmark (likes a min-raise) min-raised from the button and Konstantin Puchkov (likes a call) called from the small blind. They saw a flop.

Flop: {3-Spades}{j-Spades}{7-Clubs}

Puchkov checked to Lundmark, who bet 250,000. Puchkov now unexpectedly check-raised to 700,000. But Lundmark three-bet all in, and after a few moments' thought Puchkov pushed his stack across the line by way of a call.

Lundmark: {6-Spades}{7-Spades} for a pair and a flush draw
Puchkov: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} for an overpair - not the first time that Puchkov has flat-called with a monster hand preflop

Turn: {10-Diamonds} - Puchkov stayed ahead

River: {k-Spades} making Puchkov a set but bringing in Lundmark's flush

There will be no EPT title for Pushkov to add to his trophy cabinet alongside his WSOP bracelet, as he is out, and we are heads up, Lundmark once again the chip leader.

Lizano Forces Puchkov Out Of The Pot

Jesus Cortes Lizano is the new chip leader after winning a large pot from Konstantin Puchkov.

Puchkov raised to 260,000 on the button and Lizano came over the top and three-bet to 725,000. Kent Lundmark folded in the big blind, but Puchkov made the call.

Flop: {8-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Lizano kept the pressure on his opponent with a large bet of 1,200,000 but Puchkov was going nowhere and made the call.

Turn: {5-Clubs}

Lizano now moved all in for 6,405,000 and after flicking his toothpick around his mouth for a minute or so before folding
