Linde Nearly Back to Heads Up Starting Stack

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante

It took Per Linde until the turn to shift Michael Tureniec from his hand just now. After a few minutes of raise-take preflop poker, they got to a {7-Spades}{9-Spades}{A-Spades} flop after Tureniec called the 175k bet by Linde on the button. Tureniec check-called Linde's 175k on the flop, but when Linde bet 425k on the {Q-Diamonds} river he laid his hand down.

Back to Tureniec

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante

Michael Tureniec checked the {6-Spades}{10-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} flop, before check-raising to 400,000 when Per Linde stuck in a 150,000 bet from the button. Linde called it and they saw a turn card.

Both players checked the {k-Spades} turn and come the {3-Diamonds} river Tureniec bet out 475,000. Linde called it, but insta-mucked to Tureniec's {j-Spades}{q-Hearts}.

Per Linde raised to 125,000 from the button but Michael Tureniec 3-bet to 325,000 and Linde quickly folded.

Michael Tureniec raised to 130,000 from button and purloined the binds.

Per Linde raised to 125,000 once more from the button but for a second time Tureniec made it 325,000 and Linde folded once more.

Tureniec opened to 130,000 and Per Linde called to see a {5-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {6-Spades} flop where Linde check-called a 150,000 bet. The {7-Clubs} turn went check-check, as did the {A-Spades} river and Linde's {3-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} was good for the pot.

Linde Closing In

Michael Tureniec button-raised to 130,000 and Per Linde called to see a {5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop. He checked, and then called Tureniec's 150,000 bet.

They checked down the {9-Hearts} turn and {8-Clubs} river, at which point Tureniec mucked. The delaer up on the feature table seems to have forgotten that we in the press room like it when they bring the cards in at showdown, but we are pretty sure that Linde had at least one six in his hand.

Linde is doing a great job of evening the stacks now.

A Million Back to Linde

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante
Per Linde
Per Linde

Per Linde might be the shorter stack heads up, but he's not actually desperate. The two of them are deep enough to play properly and we're seeing quite a few flops. The first HU three-bet was made by Michael Tureniec out of the big blind (raising Linde from 125k to 325k) and it was called.

The flop brought {10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{A-Hearts} and Tureniec led for 350k, called by Linde with a lazy flick of the wrist.

The turn was the {K-Hearts}. Now both players checked.

The river was the {6-Clubs}, and when Tureniec checked again, Linde pushed in 800k. This swelled the pot over the 2 million chip mark. Tureniec, after a short pause (he does everything after a short pause) folded.

First Few Hands

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante

Our heads-up-onauts have had a relatively slow start to their battle for the title.

First Per Linde min-raised from the button and got away with it.

Next hand Linde called Michael Tureniec's button min-raise, but check-folded to Tureniec's 150,000 continuation bet on the {2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} flop.

The hand after that, Linde opened to 125,000 and Tureniec flatted before checking the {5-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop. Linde bet 150,000, but Tureniec now check-raised to 400,000. Linde gave it up, and they play on.

Remember, when we started this heads up match, Tureniec was playing around 165 big blinds to Linde's 65 big blinds. Swedish aggression or no, this could take a little while yet...

John Eames Eliminated in 3rd Place (DKK 1,400,000)

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante
John Eames
John Eames

Michael Tureniec opened for the standard 125,000 on the button and Per Linde folded his small blind. But in the big blind John Eames announced all in for 1.965 million.

Snap-call.

Eames: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Tureniec: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

Flop: {5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{k-Hearts} putting Eames in the lead.

Turn: {a-Clubs} putting Tureniec back in the lead.

River: {7-Diamonds} sealing Eames' fate.

The man who seemed unstoppable earlier in the day therefore proved himself tournament-mortal after all, and exits in third place. Cheers from the Swedish end of the press room (then polite applause; they're very well behaved, these Scandies) - it's now an all-Swedish affair as we go to heads up.

Seames Strong

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante

John Eames raised (110k) on the button, called by Michael Tureniec in the small blind. Tureniec check-called Eames' 150k bet on the {4-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop, and both players checked the {A-Clubs} turn. The river was the {Q-Clubs} and when Tureniec checked, Eames pushed in a big 460k (around half his stack now in the middle). Tureniec folded.

First Three Hands of Note

EPT Copenhagen Final Table
EPT Copenhagen Final Table

John Eames made it a just-over-minimum 125,000 from the button and Per Linde called in the big blind to check-fold to Eames' 140,000 continuation bet on the {3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop.

---

Eames handed those chips right over to Michael Tureniec next hand, though. Tureniec made the 125,000 opening raise from the button and Eames called in the big blind, only to check the {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} flop and then lay it down to a 140,000 bet from Tureniec.

---

The hand after that, Eames handed even more chips over to Tureniec. Eames raised to 140,000 from the small blind and Tureniec called in the big to see a {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop. Eames check-called 150,000, and they got to see a {9-Spades} turn, which they both checked. The river was a relatively blank {4-Hearts} and Eames checked again. Tureniec now bet a more serious 225,000, and Eames gave it up with a pained look on his face.
