Hudson River Doesn't Break Bank

Spencer Hudson, sitting comfortably with over 41,000 currently, gave it his best shot to dislodge Martins Adeniya from a hand, only to find himself down several thousand chips.
It looked like Adeniya had raised preflop from mid postion, called by Hudson. On the 
flop, Adeniya led for 675, and called when Hudson made it 1,750. The turn brought the 
. Now Adeniya check-called Hudson's slow bet of 3,250.

. Once again, Adeniya checked. After a perfectly still dwell-up, Hudson bet 5,500 which was snap-called. Hudson mucked his hand. Adeniya asked the dealer if he had to show his hand or not - she confirmed that he could take the pot with no showdown. This didn't sit right with Hudson, although he accepted the rule from the dealer with minimum fuss.
