Under Pressure
Max Heinzelmann raised to 80,000 from early position and Antonino Venneri three-bet to 220,000 from the cut-off. Venneri had been playing very tight throughout this competition so it was a strong move by him. Heinzelmann knows this better than most so his next move, which was all-in, was even stronger. Venneri changed his posture numerous times throughout his thinking time but eventually folded his hand leaving himself with 750,000.
At exactly the same time as Venneri was being put under pressure so was Francesco de Vivo. He had made a cut-off raise of 90,000 only to be three-bet by Costantino Russo in the big blind. With a little under 600,000 to his name the decision was going to be a tournament deciding one. Just like Venneri before him de Vivo folded his hand.
