The Gods Must Be Crazy

Marton Czuczor raised first into the pot from the cutoff seat, and Carlos Yerbes Gonzalez gave him action, coming along from the big blind as one of the shorter stacks left.

The dealer spread out a {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {3-Spades} flop, and Gonzalez let Czuczor bet 38,000 before check-raising to 138,000. He only had 201,000 left behind, and Czuczor considered for ages before reraising all in over the top. Gonzalez couldn't have called any quicker, and the cards were soon shown down. Czuczor flipped over {Q-Spades} {5-Spades} first, and Gonzalez let out a a bit of a teasing cackle, flipped up {Q-Clubs} {8-Spades}, and celebrated with his friends nearby on the rail.

The turn {J-Diamonds} was a blank, and it left Czuczor drawing dead to the last two fives in the deck. As if a punishment for his premature celebration, though, the poker gods dropped the {5-Diamonds} off on the river, sending a frustrated Gonzalez spiraling to the rail. Czuczor knew it was pretty dirty, and he politely waited until his freshly eliminated opponent paced away before allowing a broad grin to come across his face.

That knockout gives the Hungarian a big chip boost, and he's approaching 900,000 now as we are down to the final 28 players.
