Pateychuk Moves Boatman Off

Andrey Pateychuk opened with a raise, and Barny Boatman three-bet to 275,000. Pateychuk called, and off they went to the flop.

It came {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} {3-Hearts}, and Pateychuck check-called another 250,000. Boatman slowed down after the {4-Hearts} turn, and Pateychuk too his cue to lead out when the {Q-Spades} hit the river. We didn't even have a chance to eyeball the bet size, because a frustrated Boatman instantly mucked.

Neilson Wheels Over Bendik

Daniel Neilson raised from early position to 120,000 and Jan Bendik called from the small blind to take the {8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop. Bendik checked, Neilson bet 125,000 and Bendik called.

Bendik checked a second time after the {4-Hearts} hit the turn. Neilson bet 285,000 and Bendik called.

The river was the {K-Spades} and Bendik checked with about 3.8 million behind in his stack. Neilson didn't back down from sticking more money in the pot and fired a tall stack of orange T25,000 chips totaling 675,000. Bendik looked pained, but eventually made the call.

Neilson tabled the {A-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for a turned wheel to beat the {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} of Bendik.

Kevin MacPhee Eliminated in 8th Place (€63,694)

Kevin MacPhee - 8th place
Kevin MacPhee - 8th place

Kevin MacPhee was pinned into a corner today, and he was unable to get any of his short stack into the pot through the first 34 hands. On the 35th, though, he was down to just 535,000 when the table folded to his small blind, and he moved in. Big blind Barny Boatman asked for the count, and he eventually made the call with {Q-Spades} {7-Spades}. MacPhee's {5-Hearts} {6-Clubs} was well behind, but he did have to live cards to try and chase down a winner.

The {3-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {K-Hearts} flop was a miss for MacPhee, but the turn {2-Clubs} gave him at least a little bit of a sweat. He was looking for a four, five, six, or seven to stay alive.

River: {J-Hearts}.

It's a big disappointment to most in the room, and the EPT certainly wanted to see one of their champions grab a second trophy. But this is the end of the line in San Remo for MacPhee, eliminated 8 spots shy of that goal. He'll take more than €60,000 home for his work this week, and we're guessing it will be of little consolation today. Hopefully he'll feel better when he wakes up with that money on his nightstand in the morning.
