The Story of Varonen and Iacofano
When we started the days proceedings Kevin Iacofano was sat snugly in third place with 305,200 chips and just a few places behind him was the flying Fin Lauri Varonen with 271,800 chips. The latest chip counts show Varonen as the new chip leader and Iacofano floundering with the fish at the bottom of the ocean, so we have some explaining to do.
Melanie Weisner told us the the defining happened in a button versus big blind spot, Iacofano was in the big blind with pocket kings and Varonen was on the button with pocket aces. A six bet later, and Varonen had doubled up to overtake Weisner as the chip leader and Iacofano was left with a shove and fold stack.
Iacofano did indeed shove his stack into the middle at the beginning of Level 14 and it was that man Varonen who was once again there to greet him with a call.
