Ivey Sent to the Rail in Massive Cooler

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Earlier today Phil Ivey hit a heater to chip up to 240,000, and it looked like the fan favorite was primed to make a deep run. Astonishingly, he is now on the rail. Not surprisingly, it was the result of a cooler.

Team Online's Marc-Andre Ladouceur, who was seated to Ivey's left, was kind enough to fill is in on some of the details after the fact. According to him, it began when Marcello Marigliano opened under the gun and received two callers. Ivey then called from the cutoff, the big blind came along, and five players took a flop of {q-}{10-}{9-} with two diamonds.

Action checked to Ivey and he promptly bet 15,000. The big blind called, and then Marigliano check-raised to 33,000. Two folds put action back on Ivey and he moved all in for roughly 160,000. The big blind folded and Marigliano made the call.

Ivey tabled {j-}{8-} for a flopped straight, but it was no good as Marigliano had flopped an even bigger straight with {k-}{j-}. Neither the turn nor river provided Ivey with a king to chop, and just like that the man is gone.
