Martin Jacobson

Martin Jacobson, reigning champion of the World Series of Poker Main Event, has been trying to make some moves early on in his Day 1. In two recent hands, Jacobson got a four-bet through to pick up some chips, but he then gave them back and then some on the very next hand.

On the first f the two hands, David Peters opened to 4,500 from the cutoff position. Erik Seidel reraised on the button to 13,300, and then Jacobson, who was seated in the big blind, four-bet to 38,000. Peters and Seidel folded.

In the small blind on the next deal of the cards, Jacobson reraised to 15,000 after Paul Newey opened to 5,500 on the button. Newey called, and the flop came down {7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Jacobson led with a bet of 15,000, and Newey stuck around to see the {7-Hearts} land on the turn. Jacobson fired 35,000, but Newey decided it was time to play bigger and moved all in for 141,300. Jacobson quickly folded, and Newey won the pot.
