Kovtunov Bubbles The €25k High Roller
On the first hand of hand-for-hand play we saw all ins on both tables, creating a chance for the 11th-place payout to be chopped in case both players were knocked out. Things however did not go in Gleb Kovtunov's favor, as he was the only player to get sent to the rail.
Kovtunov, on Table 2, moved all in from the cutoff for his last 64,000 chips and Luuk Gieles made the call from the big blind. On the other table it was Kitson Kho who moved all in under the gun for 385,000 and Tobias Reinkemeier called from the cutoff, after which all the other players folded.
Kovtunov's showdown was played out first, as he tabled against Gieles' . The board ran out and the nine on the flop gave Gieles a winning pair.
The action then shifted to Table 1, as Kovtunov stood by as Kho was at risk but ahead. Kho tabled and was up against Reinkemeier's .
The flop brought out and Reinkemeier took the lead after having flopped a set, but Kho cheered loudly when the appeared on the turn. The on the river sealed it, as Kho doubled while Kovtunov was left empty-handed on the rail.
The remaining 11 players are now guaranteed to take home at least €49,000.
